Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Success & Retention/Title III Project Director; The Associate Director, College Success is responsible for facilitating all administrative duties and course programming tied to our first-year College Success course (SLS1101). The course is designed for degree-seeking students entering college for the first time. Successful course completion supports student success and retention rates at the College. The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive leadership role in helping the College effectively manage change.

  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and orienting new adjunct faculty to teach College Success.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of College Success program and provide proactive measures to ensure successful program delivery and outcomes.
  • Provide administrative support and encouragement to faculty in facilitating College Success course objectives to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Committed to continuously learning and increasing effectiveness as a professional to drive results among students and College Success faculty.
  • Work collaboratively with CITL instructional designer to perform on-going College Success course assessment, enhancements, updates, and re-designs to increase engagement, completion and success.
  • Aid and work collaboratively with the Title III team to plan, facilitate and oversee programs and courses aimed at student success.
  • Work with Title III Director on collaborating with support staff and faculty to ensure adequate measures for student success and retention are in place.
  • Assist in oversight of Title III outreach initiatives including marketing, promotional items, emails, meetings, phone calls etc.
  • Support the Title III Director with purchases for staff and students and other administrative duties.
  • Maintain a collaborative and engaging environment in which service, communication, and outreach to students, faculty, and staff is of the highest importance.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs team on formulating and implementing departmental policies, procedures and training materials.
  • Assist with formulating programming and promotional materials and resources used in the Learning Commons.
  • Teach up to two College Success courses in-person and/or online per academic semester.
  • Facilitate College Success faculty meetings for discussions, feedback, and training.
  • Participate in continuous professional development, mandatory compliance training and assist staff with training needs for departmental and college-wide advancement.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research to deploy, collect and assess student satisfaction data related to College Success course completion per academic semester to report to Title III Project Director regularly.
  • Perform other duties and services as assigned associated with student support, Learning Commons and Title III.
  • Able to travel and work at other campus locations, when necessary, upon request.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction, counseling, educational psychology, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in education or other closely related field will be considered.
  • Teaching experience required. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • A willingness to be flexible and go above and beyond to meet the needs of all students.
  • Experience using Canvas and web-conferencing software. Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software, such as Camtasia or Kaltura, preferred.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and facilitating strategies, activities, and programs in conjunction with instructional and student services units that will help ensure the retention and success of students.
  • Ability to provide instruction using active learning and engaging techniques and utilizing assessments to measure learning.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and willingness to work in collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated decision-making, problem solving, and planning skills in a collegial setting.
  • Preferred experience working collaboratively with other academic support departments or in a learning center setting
