Full-Time Assistant Coordinator, Household Hazardous Waste

Job Description

  • Data entry, record keeping, supply inventory and maintaining personnel records.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of section programs and events. (Conservation Day, paper shredding, etc)
  • Coordinating the scheduling and invoicing for the Business Hazardous Waste Program.
  • Verifying vendor invoices for HHW Program.
  • Maintaining and filing documents, manifests and invoices for the HHW Program.
  • HHW depot operation duties:
    • Being responsible for the safe handling and storage of HHW.
    • Testing and identifying HHW.
    • Understanding the chemical properties and incompatibilities of waste.
  • Help prepare section data, reports and presentations.
  • Managing HHW data for EPR program reporting, and reconciling monthly financial statements which include investigating discrepancies and taking corrective action.
  • Assisting with inquiries (e-mail, telephone, in-person) by directing them to the appropriate areas.
  • Scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and minute taking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What the role requires:

  • Post-secondary education with a combined three (3) years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail with mathematical aptitude to reconcile financial statements.
  • Understanding of all relevant legislation and regulations related to the position.
  • Timely problem solver with ability to work with high volumes and tight deadlines.
  • Extremely organized with effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Household Hazardous Waste and Waste Management operations.
  • Experienced using MS Office, Access, Hansen and Geoware, considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of HRMS functions, considered an asset.
  • Must have Class G license in good standing.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, including weekends
