SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. Provide learning experiences for dental program students while providing high quality dental care for clinic patients. Utilize expert knowledge of dental procedures and dental clinic operations to provide high quality dental services consistent with the needs of the instructional program and dental clinic. Assist and guide students and staff performing dental procedures and working in the dental clinic. This position works under general and infrequent supervision. This position reports to the Clinic Supervisor and the Director of Dental Programs and is a non-exempt, hourly, professional-technical position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform dental procedures for clinic patients consistent with industry, regulatory and college standards

• Provide traditional and expanded function learning experiences for students in a team environment with other college staff

• Work with college staff to provide high quality, cost effective dental care to patients; identify comprehensive dental care needs, develop treatment plans, make referrals, maintain accurate records, etc.

• Assist with student evaluation and patient education

• Work with college staff to coordinate clinic operations and contribute to program goals and objectives

• Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality

• Perform other related duties similar in scope and complexity

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited school of Dentistry

• Current Washington State Dental License

• Ability to facilitate communication and interaction with instructional staff and students

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations applicable to dentistry

• Ability to interact with diverse student populations

• Knowledge of the role and duties of dental assistants and hygienists

• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs

• Two years clinical practice experience and/or dental teaching experience preferred

• Experience working with a dental assistant using four-handed dentistry techniques
