Thompson Coburn, a large full-service law firm with offices in eight (8) cities across the U.S., is in search of a full-time exempt Hybrid Cloud System Engineer to join its Chicago, Dallas, or St. Louis office. Under the guidance of the Systems Architecture Manager, this position will ensure the availability, integrity, and security of all infrastructure and dependencies; install, configure, test, validate, maintain, and monitor operating systems, application software, and system management tools with automation; and help drive the IT Hybrid Cloud strategy forward, taking a customer service approach with internal and external customers. This position is eligible for a fully remote work schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Configures server hardware and software, installs hardware and software upgrades, updates, and patches, and monitors server and storage system performance. Installs, deploys, and maintains datacenter hardware as related to server and network infrastructure.
  • Ensures the availability, integrity, and security of all infrastructure and dependencies.
  • Installs, configures, tests, validates, maintains, and monitors operating systems, application software, and system management tools with automation.
  • Ensures seamless integration of Cloud platform to on-premise data centers.
  • Helps drive the IT Hybrid Cloud strategy forward, taking a customer service approach with internal and external customers.

 

Experience and Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and/or equivalent in relevant professional experience with subject matter expertise in core technologies required.
  • 5+ years of experience with Operating systems with an emphasis on Windows server platforms required.
  • 5+ years of experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or other hypervisor platforms required.
  • 5+ years with standard enterprise server architecture required.
  • Experience with Exchange on-premise and EXOL preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with Enterprise storage solutions preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with Enterprise Identity Management preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and/or other cloud providers preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise application support and use of enterprise monitoring and management tools preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with designing and implementing highly available systems (i.e. fail-over clustering, load balancing, etc.) preferred.
