Position Title:   Reparative Board and Pre-Charge Programs Coordinator

 

Who is Youth Services?

Youth Services has been a highly-respected part of the Windham County, Vermont community since 1972. We provide a variety of court diversion and other restorative programs serving adults and youth in our community. Additionally, we provide services and resources to help youth and families navigate systems, connect to resources and build community. Youth Services is a supportive, creative, dynamic workplace. In 2024, we will launch a new organizational name and brand that will reflect the range of programs and core values at our Agency.

 

Working with the Restorative Justice team, the Reparative Board and Pre-Charge Programs Coordinator will focus on managing two restorative justice programs for older youth and adults in Windham County.

The Reparative Board and Pre-Charge Programs Coordinator plays a key role in our mission to support youth and families to thrive in their communities by:

  • Managing two restorative justice-based programs for older youth and adults in Windham County.
  • Coordinating 30-35 volunteers to engage in community-based restorative processes.
  • Working directly with criminal justice-involved individuals and those harmed by crime to support their participation in programs.
  • Collaborating effectively with community partners and referring agencies to ensure smooth delivery of restorative justice programming.
  • Actively participating as a member of the Restorative Justice team at YS, working collaboratively to further the team and Agency’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Consistent with the Agency’s core values of equity and justice, striving to conduct all activities using a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Responsibilities Overview:

 

1.Reparative Board Program & Pre-Charge Program Management

  • Manage all aspects (administrative, training, development, coordination) of both programs
  • Schedule client participation
  • Conduct client intakes
  • Provide occasional “resource navigation” with clients
  • Prepare and distribute information to volunteer panelists and reminder notices to participants
  • Attend panels to assure delivery of quality service and document meetings
  • Document and maintain records
  • Submit monthly report
  • Educate community partners regarding program
  • Maintain and update print materials
  • Coordinate and deliver restorative dialogue meetings and conferences, where appropriate
  • Liaise with community partners including law enforcement, Windham County State’s Attorney, Probation and Parole Department, and other entities
  1. Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, monitor, supervise panel volunteers for both programs.

 

  1. Reports & Records: Maintain and update program files, records, spreadsheets, database.

 

  1. Harmed Party Liaison: Identify and contact victims, coordinate participation; liaise with Windham County State’s Attorney Victim Advocate and Department of Corrections.

 

  1. RJ Team and Agency-wide Activities: Attend team meetings, staff meetings, and other activities as needed.

How can I be considered for the position?

  • Ideal candidates have 3-5 years of proven and relevant experience; education may count toward those years.
  • Experience with community organizing, volunteer recruitment, volunteer development, or similar.
  • Knowledge and experience in restorative justice strongly preferred.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an ability to collaborate effectively and restoratively with staff, volunteers, service providers, and other community partners.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal skills.
  • Some supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work some evenings on a regular basis.

This position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.

Compensation: $22/hr and comprehensive benefits.

Youth Services works in partnership with United Nurses & Allied Professionals, Local 5050, and this position is included in the collective bargaining agreement.
