Program Manager, EDI

In this role, you will be accountable for supporting the development and implementation of the Hospital’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy. You will work closely across invested parties both internally and externally to support the execution of the EDI strategy and drive the priority of creating a culture of diversity, inclusion and equity among our staff, volunteers and trainees.

Here’s What You’ll Get to Do

  • Prioritization and implementation of the EDI initiatives, policies, and objectives, using project, program and change management tools, processes, and skills to adhere to timelines and outcomes-based evaluation.
  • Perform ongoing evaluation of processes, systems, protocols, and tools to ensure they align with hospital and university policies, procedures, and best practices and they are utilized consistently by departmental administration.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work plan for the EDI Steering Committee, ensuring that organizational key strategic initiatives are brought forward for consultation.
  • Lead various special projects as needed for the EDI Executive Chair and the EDI Steering Committee.
  • Work collaboratively with the Research Institute and across the organization to develop and maintain language regarding institutional support for EDI to support grant applications.
  • Develop and execute a Communications and Implementation Plan to strengthen awareness of and expectations for EDI at key events
  • Collaborate with SickKids Public Affairs on communications including resourcing and creating online web and social media content across the organization as learning and reference tools to advance knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Maintain and ensure content is relevant, robust and informative.
  • Collaborating with the EDI Data Analyst, support the data collection and analyses of EDI information from faculty and staff, as well as relevant EDI survey data from partners (e.g. University of Toronto), to develop KPIs to support strategic planning efforts.
  • Co-lead the preparation and submission of key operational reports and evaluations, i.e., department reporting requirements, diversity interests, and senior leadership recruitment.
  • Co-develop and coordinate the development and roll out of EDI training programs alongside the EDI Learning Specialist.
  • Support developing and manage budgets for EDI, Days of Significance, Patient Health Equity Data Initiative and Indigenous Health Program and identify opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Organize portfolio strategic planning days with facilitator and execute on recommendations disclosed in the retreat proceedings.
  • Event coordination: co-Lead for Bear Witness Day; Lead National Indigenous Peoples Day (managing vendor relationships)
  • Onboard, coach and assess students onboarded to support fulfillment of office tasks and contribute to career development through mentorship
  • Ensure highly effective and efficient administration in all financial, human resource, technical and other areas of support to achieve the clinical, education and research goals/missions of the EDI Office.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Completion of a University degree relevant to the position or equivalent experience, engaging in continuous education opportunities.
  • A proven track record of implementing an EDI strategy at a complex organization with clear evidence of impact.
  • Strong interpersonal and active listening skills and the ability to work within a collaborative team environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information to a large and diverse professional audience.
  • The ability to effectively think critically and problem solve in situations with varying degrees of complexity
  • Project Management skills
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills to effectively balance competing broadly impacting demands from several diverse partners.
  • Statistical knowledge to analyze a variety of data types, think critically and identify process improvements.
  • Well-developed skills and experience using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in healthcare, research or academic administration is an asset.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of web content and social media content
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives
