SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator, Running Start is responsible for the management of the Running Start Program, a component of the High School Programs department. This full-time, administrative exempt position provides high quality services and support, and acts as the primary contact for prospective and currently enrolled students. The Coordinator is responsible for recruitment and outreach with the goal of increasing Running Start enrollment. This position will coordinate the intake, registration, and payment processes, as well as provide program information including policies, deadlines and procedures; establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external constituents; and maintain fiscal and program accountability. The Coordinator, Running Start reports to the Dean of High School Programs.

Priority review will be given to applicants who apply on or before December 19th.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Conduct recruitment and outreach efforts to increase enrollment to a wide variety of potential students through high school visits and presentations, student/parent information nights, distribution of program information to outside organizations, summer events participation, and attend and represent the Running Start program at internal and external activities where recruitment could occur;
• Provide specialized and intensive assistance to a caseload of running start students in the areas of academic advising, social/emotional support, career guidance and completion Assist students in linking career and life goals to educational programs and services.
• Monitor academic performance and support students and assist in the development and support of student retention efforts
• Provide intake, enrollment and registration coordination, assure accurate completion of all applications, registrations, forms and, determine appropriate coding;
• Assist in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with area high school counselors, registrars and district personnel;
• Provide accurate information to students, parents, staff, and the public about eligibility, admission requirements, application procedures and other policies and procedures; Respond to inquiries from prospective students, outside agencies, and others on program information;
• Create, support and maintain Running Start website and social media content; develop and make public presentations on program related topics;
• Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating Running Start policies and procedures; Create, revise and/or edit program-related documents and publications;
• Coordinate with other high school programs staff in carrying out scheduling and intake activities;
• Use word processing, graphics, statistical spreadsheets and/or database software; Collect student information and perform data collection, analysis, preparation and distribution internally and externally for transcription and enrollment reporting purposes; Confer with other campus departments and outside agencies;
• May provide back up to other high school program functions as necessary; Exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules and regulations; Serve on campus committees as appropriate; and
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience related to above functions required; Master’s degree in teaching, student development, counseling or related area preferred
• Three to five years’ work experience in educational and career counseling/advising with high school students
• Significant experience in marketing, recruitment and outreach
• Experience within the technical or community college and/or high school educational setting preferred
• Experience with data collection and databases for research and data analysis; ability to maintain files accurately in student access database, electronic files and paper files; working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs in an IBM environment
• Ability to demonstrate commitment to improving the academic skills of participants Excellent oral and written communication skills required; ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information; demonstrated ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the college community and the public

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Compensation & Work Schedule
Salary is $5,373 per month. This is a temporary, full-time, 40 hour per week position. The assignment will be from January 3rd, 2023 through June 30th, 2023. Working hours are typically 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday; some evening and weekend hours as needed. Employee can have Friday and another day of the week working remotely.
