Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of the Executive Office, the Senior Communications Advisor will develop and execute a communications plan for the CEO, prepare communications products including speeches and decks, respond to correspondence, and contribute to preparing the CEO for success each day. The incumbent will also work closely with the Manager, Executive Offices to manage issues within the Executive Office, include escalation paths and briefings.

 

You Will Make a Difference By

  • Creating and implementing an annual CEO Communications Plan that is aligned to strategic objectives and CEO priorities, including a social media strategy.
  • Developing a wide variety of communications products for the CEO, including (but not limited to): speeches, decks, reports, blog posts, magazine articles, memos, and social media posts.
  • Developing materials for the Board to keep directors up to date on progress toward the OMA’s Strategic Operating Plan.
  • Proactively taking ownership in identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Developing responses to correspondence to the CEO from members, stakeholders, and government.
  • Delivering on special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements That Are Important to Us

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, public policy, communications or equivalent.
  • Professional accreditation from Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) or International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
  • Minimum 6-9 years’ experience in a senior communications role with a media relations or issues management focus.
  • Experience developing communications plans, writing materials, preparing presentations, speeches, traditional and social media materials, event planning, aligned to business goals.

 

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
