Position Summary:

The Assistant Director serves as the primary contact for Bridgewater State University for all employer engagement-related activities to expand partnerships and increase internships and job opportunities for students and alumni/ae.

Supervision Received: Reports to the Associate Director
Supervision Exercised: Student Workers, Graduate Assistants, Clerical and Support Staff

This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work in accordance with BSU’s remote work policy.

This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Essential Duties:

• Serves as the primary contact for employers interested in recruiting Bridgewater State University students and alumni for jobs, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.
• Manage the on-campus recruitment program and coordinate industry panels, career fairs, and networking events. Provide leadership and closely collaborate with faculty and staff to oversee all facets of large-scale events such as career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions, and other engagement activities.
• Conduct ongoing assessment and provide feedback of the effectiveness of the employer engagement activities.
• Identify and cultivate alumni and corporate partners aligned with university academic programs and student interests. Develop outreach strategies to attract, establish, and retain recruiting relationships with employer partners.
• Maintain a calendar of recruiting schedules, making changes as necessary based on the needs of recruiters, availability of space, and class/work schedules of the students. Manage all employer-related activities in Handshake, including but not limited to job postings, information sessions, career fair registrations, employer sponsorships, first destination surveys, internship data tracking, and employment trends.
• Develop regular communication and promotional materials promoting the university’s initiatives, programs, and events with alumni and prospective and current employer partners.
• Collaborate with Advancement to cultivate alumni engagement in career development activities such as speaker series, professional training, mentorship, and leadership development programs.
• Identify the latest industry trends and workforce development related to student and alumni career development.
• Create sponsorship opportunities that help employers increase their campus recruiting brand and generate department resources.
• Track alumni and employer engagement activities utilizing Handshake. Provide reporting on outreach and engagement activity to department leadership, maintain data in the system, and train staff on utilization.
• Collaborate with department staff as well as the division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications to collect alumni and student outcomes and success stories.
• Provide coverage for walk-in appointments or career advisement sessions for students and alumni when needed.
• Conduct career development workshops and connect students with alumni for career advancement.
• Support the first destination data collection effort and contribute information for the Office’s annual report.
• Perform other duties assigned by the senior management team of the office.

Some evening hours and travel will be required for this position.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Three to five years of professional experience in human resources/college recruiting or college/university career services setting.
• Experience planning large-scale events.
• Proven record in developing meaningful relationships with alumni and corporate partners.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate high professionalism with a strong ability to speak publicly at events and/or create professional presentation materials.
• Excellent technical background, including high-level knowledge of Handshake, Microsoft Suite products, and social media such as LinkedIn.
• Requires some weekend nights and weekend work availability.
• Extremely organized and able to manage multiple priorities and creatively solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Student Personnel/Higher Education, Human Resources, or related degree
• Experience using, maintaining records, and running reports utilizing a Client Relationship Management (CRM) product
• Experience collaborating with employers, faculty, alumni, and underrepresented students.
• Experience with and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) issues within the college campus and the workplace.
• Demonstrated knowledge of early talent recruitment trends and the latest employment laws.
