Our client
Our client is The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives ‘CILEX’ – one of the three main professional bodies covering the legal profession in England and Wales – and the governing body for over 21,000 Chartered Legal Executive Lawyers, other legal practitioners and paralegals. Their operation and business levels are growing and, just this year, they have acquired the Institute of Paralegals.
CILEX is expanding their approach to assessment, to include a competency-based pathway and they are looking for someone to take responsibility for the quality assurance processes. This role has the potential to significantly enhance your CV by providing you with the opportunity to work with a notable and trusted brand that is currently in a phase of expansion.
The role
The purpose of the role is to manage the Assessment of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) and work-based experience for CILEX members and potential members, and it sits within the Awarding Body.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your own assessor team, while also taking on assessing and internal quality assurance responsibilities.
You will play a pivotal role in recruiting, training, and leading a team of freelance assessors and driving the delivery of high-quality assessment practices.
Key facts
- Full time, permanent contract
- Home based with the expectation to go to the office at least 6-10 times a year, for the mandatory and quarterly staff meetings (expenses paid by the employer)
- Salary: circa £45,000
The major responsibilities of the role are to:
- be responsible for the assessment and quality assurance of work-based experience across CILEX’s qualification and assessment portfolio
- lead standardisation and internal quality assurance activities
- conduct professional discussions and interviews to determine competence against standards
- oversee the delivery of accurate assessment outcomes
- ensure CILEX policies and procedures governing APEL and work-based experience are fit for purpose, regularly updated, compliant with regulatory requirements and understood by colleagues.
The ideal candidate
Our client is looking for someone with a solid knowledge of legal practice standards and experience delivering assessments, ideally within competence-based qualifications.
This Quality Assurance Manager role will suit you perfectly if you:
- Have experience working in legal practice within the last 10 years
- Have experience of internal or external quality assurance of various assessment methodologies
- Have good understanding and application of assessment principles
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers at all levels
- Are a confident decision maker, with the ability to work under own initiative.
