Full-Time Manager Corporate Sanitation

Job Description Summary

               

The Corporate Manager Sanitation will manage a team of two, (Sr. Corporate Sanitation Specialists) and provides leadership and technical expertise in GMP, Sanitation, Pest Control, Environmental Monitoring (EMP),
CIP, and hygienic design programs. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of
sanitation and GMP principles, methods and technology. This position is the technical
liaison between the plants, Corporate, sanitation, chemical company, and pest control
company. The individual will be required to work closely with operations, sanitation, and
quality departments.

 

Job Description

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Create a safe working environment for personnel working in sanitation, help maintain SDS’s, work with chemical supplier to provide chemical handling training, provide leadership in enhancing chemical training beyond what the chemical supplier provides, and meet all requirements of the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.
  • Work closely with Plant Sanitation to institutionalize employee/skill development through formal training programs and coaching. Training will include but is not limited to personal safety, personal protective equipment, chemical safety, lockout tag-out, food safety, GMP’s sanitation principles, COP and CIP systems, and Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) and Sanitation Operator Work Instructions (SOWI’s).
  • Support and ensure compliance with BRC, FSMA, FDA, OSHA, State and Local regulations in the areas of GMP, Sanitation, CIP, Pest Control, Environmental Monitoring and hygienic design programs.
  • Review schedules and resources with Plant Sanitation to optimize the workload for maximum efficiencies while minimizing contamination and downtime of Operations. This includes exploring opportunities to design sanitation practices and processes into operational job function where possible. Lamb Weston Proprietary.
  • Partner with Corporate Quality and Plant Food Safety and Sanitation Team Leaders / Managers to develop and implement Master Sanitation Schedules for each facility and audit functions to ensure compliance and documentation of results. These schedules will be routinely audited and annually reviewed by the Sanitation Department and adjustments will be made as needed.
  • Monitors and reviews the effectiveness of the sanitation processes (post sanitation (pre-op) inspections) and sanitation effectiveness swabs.
  • Review and approve all RCA investigations for positive results in Sanitation Effectiveness and EMP at all facilities.
  • Work with plant Sanitation Managers/Team Leaders to troubleshoot sanitation and quality issues at the plant level. Identifies and implements necessary and appropriate corrective measures.
  • Assist in development of goals and implementation of Sanitation KPI’s for each factory. Review all plant scorecards for Sanitation.
  • Ensures that an effective Pest Control Program (PCP) is implemented and maintained to support a pest-free environment at the factory level.
  • Ensure implement and maintain factory allergen sanitation control programs.
  • Investigate and keep abreast of new innovations, technologies and practices in sanitation to improve sanitation efficiency and or effectiveness including resource management (manpower, supplies, chemicals, water, energy).
  • Participate in new line installations and/or purchases to ensure that new equipment can be properly and efficiently cleaned.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on capital projects (FSQRA’s) to Operation’s and Engineering teams for sanitary design and functionality of facilities (process flow, fit and finish), equipment and sanitation systems.

 

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Food Science or related field or progressive responsibility in a food manufacturing setting. Prefer individual with Sanitation/Microbiological background and pest control knowledge in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive food safety and food processing experience required; at least 2 years in a supervisory manufacturing environment under FDA and/or HACCP managing food processing sanitation program preferred.
  • Excellent and proficient grasp of FSMA, BRC code, OSHA and all criteria related to Sanitation, Pest Control, Hygienic Design and Food Microbiological Safety and risk prevention.
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and self-initiative skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills a must • Computer Skills: MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Proficient command of English – must be an effective communicator (oral and Lamb Weston Proprietary written) with training, facilitation and project management skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbent must have the ability to effectively perform all of the following physical demands without assistance:
  • Stand, sit, and/or walk for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Drive company or rental vehicle for up to 6 hours in a day, infrequently.
  • Occasionally will work in plant settings.
  • Use of lab equipment and tools.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. infrequently.
