Full-Time Assembly Manager

Job Description

Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aero structures for both commercial and defense customers. With headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, Spirit operates sites in the U.S., U.K., France and Malaysia. Responsibilities

  • Lead team in developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Lead a team of represented employees in the fabrication and assembly of complex aero structures, to meet production requirements and customer acceptance
  • Ensures the manufacture of completed units by overseeing activities such as assembly of components into subassemblies
  • Mating or joining of structural assemblies (metallic and nonmetallic)
  • Installation of systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) that are fastened with screws, bolts, rivets, solder, crimping or swaging, connectors, or adhesives
  • Testing with mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment.
  • Interfaces with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.

Position Requirements

  • Must complete and clear Boeing Background check and badging process
  • Willing to travel 10-15% (to and from assignment/training requirements)
  • Willing to work 2nd shift (Role does have shift differential)
  • Agree to approximately 12- 18 month assignment (depends on location)
  • Must be able to work 10-12 hour days
  • Position is eligible for overtime pay – 1st Level Managers are paid OT after 45 hours in the week and OT is paid as straight time

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Aerospace
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a leadership/management role
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working with multiple cross functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, etc.)
  • Experience developing and managing a statement of work on time and within budget
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using SAP
  • Ability to work any shift, including alternative work weeks
  • Experience working in a union environment with collective bargaining agreements
  • Experience monitoring cost
  • Experience managing projects
  • Experience with strategic planning
  • Experience working with new product introduction (NPI)
  • Experience with Aircraft on the Ground (AOG)
