Functional Title – Principal, Back-End Developer
BNY Mellon Issuer Services provides world-class servicing for two sides of clients’ financing needs: debt and equity. It combines our leading Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts businesses to offer both issuers and investors more comprehensive and flexible options.
Issuer Services Technology comprised of Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipt businesses which provide world-class equity and debt servicing. Corporate Trust technology is responsible for providing development, maintenance, and risk management services for the portfolio of proprietary and third-party applications sued to support the $1.4B Corporate Trust business. Depositary Receipts technology provides a broad spectrum of intranet-based technology supporting the Depositary Receipt business division.
Role Description:
As a Lead Java/Spring boot/Microservices Developer participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle which includes estimating, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment, and support of applications. As a member working in a team environment, you will work with solution architects and developers on interpretation/translation of creative designs into functional requirements, and subsequently into technical design.
Responsibilities
- Involved in the technical planning & requirements gathering phases including Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document engineering software applications.
- Ensure technical software development process is followed on the project, familiar with industry best practices for software development.
- Develop applications using Java, J2EE, REST, SOAP, Spring-boot
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience levels.
Skills:
- 9-11 years hands on experience with core Java & J2EE skills and well versed on design patterns and related frameworks
- Experience in Spring-Boot and Microservices
- Experienced in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies
- Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Paired Programming
- Experience with PCF is a plus or additional Cloud experience is a huge plus (i.e. Bluemix, GCP, AWS)
- Strong debugging, problem solving and investigative skills. Ability to assimilate disparate information (log files, error messages etc.) and pursue leads to find root cause problems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
- Min 5-7 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
- Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans.
- S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies.
- Extensive experience with developing and supporting front-end and back-end development required.
