Position Title:  Tamarack Program and Pretrial Services Coordinator

How will I make a difference?

The Tamarack Program and Pretrial Services Coordinator plays a key role in Youth Services’ mission to support youth and adults to thrive in their communities. This position is housed within the Restorative Justice department and works closely with other Restorative Justice team members, clinical services, the State’s Attorney’s Office, Court, Public Defender’s Office and other community partners to provide collaborative, comprehensive services.

The position coordinates the: (1) Tamarack Program: a court diversion program which has a primary focus of assisting adults in accessing optimal health and wellness through screenings for mental health and/or substance use and making referrals to appropriate clinical providers.  Upon stabilization of participants, a restorative panel process may be utilized; and (2) Pretrial Services Program: a program focused on assisting individuals in complying with their pretrial release conditions (Pretrial Services).  

Responsibilities Overview:

Pretrial Services:

  • Work with participants referred by the criminal court to prioritize their substance use and/or mental health needs and provide screenings for individuals with charges pending;
  • Conduct outreach and provide referrals to participants to support engagement in the Pretrial Services Program and enhance their community connections and supports;
  • Effectively support clients using detailed knowledge of all area service providers for mental health, addiction, recovery, housing, disability benefits, economic support benefits (REACH UP/ food stamps), and other client needs; and
  • Effectively support clients in navigating the court system, attending all scheduled court hearings, and meeting obligations (e.g. conditions of release) using detailed knowledge of the Vermont criminal justice system.

 

Tamarack Program:

  • Work with participants referred by the State’s Attorney’s Office to this court diversion program;
  • Effectively support clients using detailed knowledge of the Vermont criminal justice system;
  • Prioritize participants’ substance use and mental health needs;
  • Support participants’ engagement in the program and enhance their community connections and supports by conducting outreach and providing referrals;
  • Effectively support clients using detailed knowledge of all area service providers for mental health, addiction, recovery, housing, disability benefits, economic support benefits (REACH UP/ food stamps), and other client needs; and
  • Facilitate diversion panels as needed using restorative practices.

  • This position requires a BA/BS or equivalent amount of education, training and/or work experience.
  • This can be a hybrid position, with some work happening in the office and some remotely.  Reliable transportation and comprehensive insurance is required.

This position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.

Compensation: $20/hr and comprehensive benefits.
