Full-Time Energy Service Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of administrative, general support, project management and monitoring duties for the Energy Services Department. Employee must be able to take initiative, work independently, collaborate with agency staff as needed to complete projects, and must exercise discretion in handling confidential information. The duties of this position are diverse in nature and require public contact in a variety of settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports and upholds Couleecap’s mission to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency for individuals by helping to identify needs, mobilize resources, and provide quality services.
  • Assists the Energy Services Director with developing budgets and contract goals and monitoring expenditures and program performance.
  • Provides comprehensive and widely varied assistance to the Energy Services Director, such as drafting correspondence, project and/or issue research, meeting preparation, coordinating department events, and public relations.
    Coordinate with local WHEAP offices to confirm client eligibility and ensure timely deliverance of emergency services.
  • Maintains relationships with funding sources and coordinates with other service providers.
  • Oversees the recruitment and enrollment of program participants and processing of applications, including interviews and verifications.
  • Assists departmental staff with managing projects or special assignments as needed, such as researching information, updating or creating forms and documents, preparing for meetings/events, and assisting in completing other tasks.
  • Assists the general public, clients, vendors, or other business personnel Responds to any questions and/or directs them to appropriate staff person and/or programs as necessary.
  • Assists department staff in managing and tracking the QA monitoring processes required by our funders. Participates in site visits as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains files and information systems. Keeps accurate records and makes timely reports. Maintains and tracks statistics as assigned.
  • Maintains a high degree of confidential client and personnel information.
  • Operates basic office machines, utilizes computer and network systems for work assignments, proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Attends meetings & training sessions as required.
  • Understand, appreciate, and interact with people from all cultures or belief systems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires academic education beyond high school sufficient to qualify for registration in a professional occupation (usually three years beyond high school) or three to four years’ previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, using standard grammar. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute in Microsoft Excel.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Access to reliable, licensed, insured driver and transportation.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Considerable experience working with the public. Basic home rehabilitation construction knowledge helpful. Good knowledge and understanding of the problems created by poverty. Ability to establish effective working relationships with the public. Ability to keep accurate records and make reports. Stability, reliability, patience, resourcefulness, good judgment, tact, and courtesy. Knowledge of office procedures, terminology, and equipment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Some inventory experience. Good communication skills. Ability to convince people of their need to conserve energy. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, and the Internet. Knowledge of Couleecap and community programs.
