Full-Time Asset Performance Catchment Manager – Blandford Forum – £27.9K

Environment Agency – Posted by EmilyHMorse Blandford Forum, England, United Kingdom

Job Description

In this role you will manage river catchments in the South Wessex Asset Performance Team. This team manages flood alleviation schemes and assets protecting communities across the region. Focusing on whole life-cycle asset management, you will maintain and develop assets for multiple benefits, such as increased climate resilience, reduced carbon emissions, environmental net gain, as well as improved recreation and other societal benefits. You will work alongside external partners, contractors, and landowners, as well as internal teams to maintain assets in good working order and inform capital investment and maintenance programmes.
You will be confident in engaging, building, and maintaining local relationships with internal and external stakeholders and enjoy collaborating and connecting with others. You will embed modern asset management practice in the team by adopting and following best practice to meet the international asset management standard ISO55000.
Your territory in West Dorset spans coastal defences and river catchments. Your work includes matters of riparian ownership, legal and estate, public interest, flood risk and permitting. Working alongside maintenance planners, you will shape programmes by prioritising needs and setting standards for asset conditions. Participation in risk management to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues is integral to the role.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The Asset Performance Team sits within Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations, in Wessex South. We manage the whole life cycle of flood and coastal risk management assets and incident response. We ensure our assets work to reduce flood risk for our communities and enhance our environment. We are a friendly and experienced, multi-skilled team of technical advisors, incident management leads, catchment managers, data and support officers and asset inspectors.

An asset management qualification or equivalent experience is desirable, as is experience in coastal and fluvial flood risk management. An awareness of health, safety and wellbeing in a construction or operational environment would be beneficial.

A love for the region and a genuine interest in the sustainable management of its natural resources is paramount. The role requires excellent relationship management skills and experience in a customer-facing role. You will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently and as part of a team.

You will be able to innovate and use new approaches and ideas to solve problems, be comfortable with information technology, have an aptitude for leading and coaching others and you will be skilled in work prioritisation. A flexible outlook is essential for adapting to the changing environment of a large organisation.

This is an office and field-based role for which travel within the region will be required. Hybrid working is currently adopted, and colleagues are encouraged to work face to face, in the office or on site for 2-3 days each week.

We support flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share and we are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce which reflects communities we serve and welcome applications regardless of race, sex, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity or marital status.
