Exemplars in Global Health (“EGH”) aims to adapt successful global health solutions to new contexts by conducting research and analysis to improve funding and policy decisions, both internally and externally. Our goals are to produce high quality research to drive improvements in how policymakers and funders deal with the most pressing global health challenges.

 

THE POSITION

A successful candidate will be excited to contribute to the end-to-end success of innovative global health research into the drivers of progress on women’s health around the world. The candidate will specifically be embedded in the team focused on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR), family planning (FP), and women’s health and well-being across the life course (WHW); this role will focus most substantially on ASRHR, including ongoing research in Cameroon, Ghana, India, Malawi, Nepal, and Rwanda.

 

The candidate will work to (1) shape and contribute to the research led by our partners across multiple countries, (2) guide that research through a translation and publication process for impact and so it is accessible to a broader audience, with the help of journalists, designers, and web developers, and (3) coordinate and manage engagement with external stakeholders (e.g., health ministries, multilateral institutions, funders, technical advisors), including shaping our approach to engaging external stakeholders and driving continuous improvement of engagement and partnership models on the women’s health team.

 

Ultimately, we seek to create a compelling research product that will support policy makers, funders, advocates, and academics to improve the quality of global health decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

The individual taking on this important role will be responsible for a wide range of activities and relationships, including but not limited to:

 

  • Research partner and project management (30%): Collaborate with academic research partners, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders to shape and drive multi-country ASRHR research. Key activities include developing and overseeing workback plans for research and impact milestones, defining meeting goals and synthesizing key takeaways, and leading both external communications and internal leadership updates. May also include scientific literature reviews and data analysis or performing deep dives on specific policy or content bodies of work.
  • Partnership engagement strategy development and execution (30%): Support partnership identification, engagement, and dissemination strategy development and execution to drive projects towards achieving impact goals; manage communications and materials development for key external engagements and meetings; continuously monitor and refine the team’s engagement and partnership model and help to codify best practices for both topic specific and cross-topic learning.
  • Research synthesis and development of materials (20%): With research partners, conduct synthesis of findings and generate materials tailored for different target end user audiences.
  • Data and analytics (10%): Lead rapid data and analytics workstreams in partnership with leading research partners and to answer policy and strategy questions for internal and external decision-makers.
  • Special projects (10%): Support high-priority efforts as opportunities arise. Own personal learning agenda related to topic areas and broader global health dialogue.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • 2-4+ years in an analytically and programmatically rigorous environment – data and analytics or global health research, management consulting experience preferred
  • Familiarity with basic dynamics of the global health ecosystem, through past work and/or educational background
  • Experience organizing and driving complex projects while effectively balancing multiple priorities on tight timelines
  • Track record of increasing responsibility and cultivating strong relationships with partner organizations
  • Strong communication skills, including strong writing, presentations, and ability to efficiently synthesize materials
  • Proven analytical capability, including significant experience analyzing large data sets in Excel, Stata, R, or similar software
  • Ideal opportunity for someone interested in contributing to a rigorous, research-based agenda across health and life sciences, with a particular focus on global adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • French language skills a plus
