Full-Time Membership Engagement Coordinator (Remote)

Job Description

The Membership Engagement Coordinator is responsible for embracing and supporting the adoption of all destination organization member, partner, and business member engagement strategies globally, resulting in increased number of members, engaged individuals, and helping achieve the financial goals of the organization. This position provides administrative support and database management for the membership, sales, and services department. This position will also collaborate with all departments to identify prospects and opportunities for revenue growth and support all areas of the organization by communicating, spending time with and visiting in person or virtually, with members and partners so they see value in their investments.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Assist Membership Manager and Vice President, Membership Engagement, Senior Director of Partnership, and Chief Operating Officer, on annual department strategies, measurement goals, and budgets to achieve yearly goals.
• Communicate and co-collaborate with all fellow team members to understand all yearly departmental goals and assist in achieving those goals.
• Serve as administrative support for ongoing engagement with new and renewing members including member presentations, report generation, daily membership team needs.
• Help manage a sustainable base of DMO and business member dues as well as partner contributions to support the business plan.
• Assist in developing and implementing retention strategies and maintaining retention rate with a robust onboarding and engagement plan.
• Work with finance and IT teams to collect member dues and partner contributions and assist in reporting out challenges, member retention figures, and opportunities for improvement.
• Respond promptly to member and partner requests for service and assistance with supporting the team.
• Collaborate with VP of Information Technology to maintain a technology platform. This includes development of the member snapshot and partner report cards to show engagement, identify gaps and drive additional engagement.
• Work to enhance the association culture to create a positive and transparent communication and exchange of ideas that contribute to a safe, healthy, positive, and harmonious work culture and environment.

Desired Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2+ years of experience in an administrative role within the hospitality field
• Preferred professional experience within a Destination Organization, Tourism Division or Trade Association
• Additional desired experience within sales, membership, partnership, or destination marketing
• International market experience is a plus
• Professional Destination Management certification (PDM)

Expected Competencies:
• Bilingual verbal and written communication skills (English Required, Spanish or French Preferred)
• Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills.
• Experience and proficiency in database management and data entry.
• Creative and innovative thinking for driving new opportunities for member and partner acquisition, subscription to products, DI tools, education, and resources.
• Strong analytic, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written, editorial, and verbal communication/presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
• An entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative and open work style.
• Understanding the dynamics of a membership or association-style organization.
• Ability to meet scheduling requirements and maintain an excellent attendance record.
• Competency in Microsoft office to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Zoom/Microsoft Teams.

Working Hours/Travel Expectations:
Destinations International operates Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm based on time zone of the employee resides in however organization communications time in EST. On occasion work or travel will be required outside of business hours including weekends and or evenings. This role will require up to 15% travel time and may include international travel. Individual must have a valid driver’s license, current passport and be able to travel via plan, train or automobile.

Work Environment
Destinations International is a remote-first organization with a headquartered office space located in Washington D.C. Collaboration of team members includes virtual and in person meetings.
