Starting Salary Range: $69,362 – $80,441

Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Senior Financial Analyst on the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Team is a strategic thought partner who uses financial modeling, financial forecasting, and trend analysis to provide advice, guidance, and support to a portfolio of operational departments, performs strategic analysis related to department budgets, and directly supports department leaders in budget development and use of funds.  Responsible for performing advanced technical analysis to solve business problems using advanced Excel, Google Sheets, and related methods.  Part of supporting a portfolio of departments also means providing training and assistance to department heads and staff with budget management responsibilities, including budget development, monitoring, reporting and analysis.  The role manages revenue sources and considers all funding sources, including grants and bond funded capital projects.

Develops dynamic models that create scenarios based on assumptions that consider revenue and cost drivers and allow leaders to make informed decisions

Act as subject matter expert related to financial planning for specific functional areas of the district including preparing concise presentation materials for leadership

Assists in preparation of monthly department budget status reports; provides assistance to staff as needed to identify areas of concern.

Plan and manage grant funding in coordination with department grant manager including submission of grant billings and required compliance with grants including annual financial reporting.

Researches, strategizes and applies analytical methods to solve complex problems. Directs and develops research methodology used. Analyze systems, programs, datasets and reports to enhance the efficacy of district programs, processes, procedures, goals and objectives. Create metrics, examine data, interpret findings and extract insights.

Maintains proactive communication with key internal and external stakeholders; presents data and recommendations to practitioners, partners and district stakeholder in effort to reveal gaps and areas of improvement. 

Works closely with functional experts, provides mentorship and catalyzes strong collaboration among all resources involved.

Provide financial analysis of department budgets, including identifying and researching variance analysis, risks and solutions and operational needs.

Facilitate regular meetings with department clerical, administrative and central administration staff regarding the financial health of the department or school, as well as facilitate discussion on upcoming goals, spending

needs or changes.

Provide training to department clerical and administrative staff; teach them to prepare for Finance Office financial reviews, project year end balances, prepare journal entries, make budget transfers and properly administer grants and capital funding sources.

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

Three (3) years experience preferred in financial modeling, budgeting, accounting, and data analysis as well as research and evaluation skills utilizing automated systems.

Skilled in using Excel pivot tables, graphing, macros, formulas and linking; Experience with Google Sheets a plus.

Possess good oral and written communication skills.

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as Google Suite.

Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

Strong attention to detail.

Effective communication skills.

The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

Work collaboratively with others on a team.

Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work with time constraints and deadlines.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, accounting or finance; or equivalent education.
