Full-Time Assistant Director, Educational Programs

Job Description

James Madison University invites applications for the Assistant Director, Educational Programs in the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices (OSARP). The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for overseeing the educational programs in the office, including the Personal Success and Substance Education programs; coordinating all program assessment for educational programs; initiating and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners; conducting minor, major and flexible administrative case reviews; supervising a full-time Coordinator and graduate student directly and undergraduate student staff indirectly; meeting with reporting/responding parties for regular, sexual misconduct, and Title IX sexual harassment cases; and interacting with parents, faculty, police and legal counsel.

Maximum starting salary is $52,500.00
The Assistant Director, Educational Programs reports to the Associate Director, Accountability Board, and has responsibility for the following:
  • (25%) Coordinate the Mentor Experience sanctioned program and the Moving Forward sanctioned program for Sexual Misconduct/Title IX Sexual Harassment. This includes, but is not limited to: developing and updating program curricula; recruit, train, and maintain contact with Mentors and Moving Forward facilitators; maintain the database for these programs; coordinate all Personal Success programs assessment, working in collaboration with the Center for Assessment and Research Studies; update assessment report as appropriate; directly supervise the Graduate Assistant for Personal Success Programs; Oversee supervision of a Student Case Administrator through the Graduate Assistant.
  • (25%) Participate as a Case Administrator for minor, major, and flexible cases including Sexual Misconduct, Title IX Sexual Harassment, and suspension level cases, if appropriate. Participate as an advisor/guide for Responding and Reporting Parties, including in Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Sexual Harassment cases.
  • (15%) Oversee other facilitated educational programs. This includes, but is not limited to: directly supervise the Coordinator of Educational Programs; oversee the assessment of the sanctioned programs for which the Coordinator has oversight; oversee the supervision of the Graduate Assistant for Substance Education Programs and Student Case Administrator, through the Coordinator.
  • (10%) Coordinate outreach for OSARP, including but not limited to: facilitate presentations and workshops related to policies and office procedures; provide updates and revisions to university-wide publications; maintain outreach posts for digital signage; create and update office marketing materials as needed; assist in the maintenance and updates of the OSARP website as needed; track all outreach done by the department for annual reporting.
  • (10%) Coordinate program assessment measuring student learning outcomes for OSARP educational programs, including but not limited to: maintain assessment files; monitor assessment projects; assist staff with individual program assessment, as needed; update relevant assessment reports. Collaborate with the Center for Assessment and Research Studies on projects. Represent OSARP on the divisional Assessment Council. Supervise practicum & doctoral experiences for assessment students as needed.
  • (5%) Assist the Associate Director, Accountability Board in the coordination of the JMU Student Handbook revision process, including but not limited to: administrative support; collect proposed revisions to the Handbook; update Handbook publications and website as needed.
  • (5%) Serve as a key staff member to answer questions and interact with parents, faculty, legal counsel, and federal agents. Create and participate in outreach programs and presentations as needed. Foster positive working relationships with JMU Public Safety, Residence Life, Health Center, Athletics, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Counseling Center and others associated with student discipline on our campus. Serve on departmental, divisional and university-wide committees as applicable to the position.
  • (5%) Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Accountability Board or Director of the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices.
