Are you an HR professional ready to support The Property Ombudsman (TPO) in our transformation journey?  We are an influential,  small and friendly organisation looking for a talented HR professional to guide us through transformation and change, and to lead the day to day operational HR function.

Salary:             £55,000 to £62,000 (dependent on experience) 

Hours:              Full-time (35 hours per week)

Location:         Home based with occasional travel to Salisbury, Wiltshire.

 

About us

The Property Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent Ombudsman service, helping to resolve disputes between consumers and property professionals. We are the only Ombudsman scheme in the property professional sector and, as a not-for-profit organisation, we have been providing our service since 1990.

 

The role

As Head of HR, you will lead the development and implementation of our people and culture strategy, together with the underpinning operational plans, to support the delivery of TPO’s strategic objectives. This will include a significant organisational development plan, driving transformational change.

 

You will have responsibility for a broad remit of HR practices including recruitment, retention, talent development, employee relations, organisation culture and design. As an experienced professional, you will be confident working strategically whilst also comfortable being close to the detail.

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide assurance that our people strategies, policies, procedures and processes are robust and in keeping with our strategic direction and culture. Being an active and influential member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with your leadership colleagues to deliver on organisational objectives and contribute to strategic planning and discussions that shape the future of TPO.

 

You will lead our small, high functioning HR team to ensure the effective delivery of a professional advisory, guidance and support service which reflects our values, whilst demonstrating best practice in employment law.

 

You will be ready to bring:

We are looking for:

  • A general level of education at degree or professional level, or the equivalent level of attainment gained through professional experience
  • CIPD level 7 qualified or relevant experience
  • A true generalist with a proven track record of managing and leading change and transformation projects – organisational design experience is desirable
  • Ability to think and act strategically to develop practical, innovative, and creative solutions to the management of strategic issues and complex problems
  • Strong leadership skills, to be people focussed with a desire to innovate, challenge and drive change
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build strong and collaborative internal and external relationships across different disciplines and maintain respect, trust, and credibility at all levels of the business
  • The ability to measure, assess and set goals to evolve culture and environment
  • Ability to promote a diverse and inclusive environment, where our people can achieve their best
  • Ability to introduce new ideas and challenge current practices in a cooperative manner
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience working with HR processes; knowledge of relevant HR policies and procedures and experience in interpreting, advising and implementing them
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, challenging environment
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and achieve results whilst working remotely
