Job Description

The Digital Media & Content Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of Digital Media and Content Strategy.  The position is responsible for creating content for all USA Volleyball digital channels, including content covering USA Volleyball national teams, events, and programs. Content creation includes writing announcements, event recaps, feature stories and copywriting for social media captions. In addition, the coordinator will assist in updating the USA Volleyball website, assist in content curation and building of email newsletters and other direct emails, and post to social media channels when needed. Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Some travel is required for this position. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position works out of our Anaheim & Torrance offices in a hybrid arrangement.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Content creation and production for USA Volleyball digital media channels to engage, inform and connect with key stakeholders while promoting programs, events, and teams.
  • Write announcements, features and event recaps for teams, domestic and international events, athletes, and programs (including grassroots volleyball, officials, education, clubs, regions, and National Team Development Program).
  • Update organizational social media accounts as needed when covering events, including caption copywriting, updating graphics, photo selection and editing, and posting.
  • Provide onsite coverage and support at select USA Volleyball events, including taking and posting photos and video to social media, and using production-quality video cameras to capture B-roll, liaison with local media.
  • Create content of indoor and beach national teams when athletes are training at Anaheim and Torrance facilities, including capturing photos and videos.
  • Update all areas of the USA Volleyball website, including results, pages, and events adjustments, adding stories, resources, and events, and building new pages as needed.
  • Contribute to development and execution of strategic marketing and communication campaigns across varying events, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Contribute to organizational photo and video asset management.
  • Aid in maintaining photo naming, tagging and storage structure.
  • Build and maintain rapport with USA Volleyball constituents, including athletes, coaches, administrators, partners, parents, and event staff.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA in communications, marketing, journalism, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with use of social media for organization/brand.
  • Experience in web publishing using a content management system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Bridge.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background (prior to hire date).
  • Must successfully complete and maintain SafeSport training as a condition of employment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Basic HTML knowledge.
  • Familiarity with WordPress content management system.
  • Experience in social media apps such as Sprout Social and Slate.
  • Experience with project management software such as Smartsheet.
  • Experience or skillset in video editing/production.
  • Background in volleyball or sports.

Salary: $ 23.00 – $24.00/hr., equivalent to ($48,000 – $50,000 annually).
