About The Bail Project

The Bail Project is a national nonprofit that provides free bail assistance and pretrial support to thousands of low-income people every year, while advancing policy change at the local, state and national level. It is on a mission to combat mass incarceration by eliminating reliance on cash bail and demonstrating that a more humane, equitable, and effective pretrial system is possible. For more information about its vision for a more just criminal legal system, see its publication After Cash Bail.

The Bail Project team is a community of advocates committed to ending mass incarceration and advancing racial and economic justice. The organization consists of a central support hub and a growing network of local teams who work in their communities to provide bail assistance and help advance advocacy efforts on the ground. The central support hub includes departments that focus on operations and client support services, data, program evaluation, strategic communications, policy advocacy, philanthropy, financial management, legal affairs, training, and more.

The Opportunity

As the head of the Communications Department, the CCO will manage a team of five, providing a full range of communications services to the organization, including but not limited to: issue messaging and brand strategy, media relations, editorial and creative content, crisis communications, social media, social marketing, internal communications, and the publication of TBP’s annual report.
