Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Planning and Economic Development, this position is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction, overall management and leadership of the Municipal Housing Development Division. The Municipal Housing Development Division oversees and implements initiatives that increase the supply of affordable housing, works to facilitate new and regenerate existing affordable housing developments, as well as monitors and evaluates business contracts and service agreements related to affordable municipal housing.
As a Management Leader with the Corporation, the Director, Municipal Housing Development fosters an enterprise-wide approach to ensure consistency and collective delivery in support of the strategic priorities of the Division, Service Area and Council’s Strategic plan. They will develop and implement strategic initiatives for the Municipal Housing Development Division to meet Council’s strategic plan and effectively deliver the business responsibilities of the Division. They will direct the planning, management, and administration for Municipal Housing Development Division and will also develop and maintain comprehensive policies, programs, procedures, and protocols.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished strategic leader with experience in the development of affordable housing and municipal development approvals processes and regulations. You will have demonstrated ability to co-create a vision for the Division aligned with strategic priorities, build common purpose and direction, and deliver outcomes to strengthen overall organizational performance. Having completed a University degree in Public or Business Administration, Planning, Social Services or related field, combined with ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and related professional and community experience. Considerable knowledge of the municipal development approvals processes and regulations is an asset, as well as experience in the development of affordable housing and addressing homelessness.
