The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst I takes a data-driven approach to informing decisions and process improvements critical to the success of Cable One within any and all lines of business.  The position’s primary function is that of a strategist, using strong analytical skills and a deep knowledge of the product, process, or challenge.

What you will do to contribute to the company’s success

Set forth below is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities (or “essential functions”) of this position.

  • Works individually and collaboratively with other BI team members to perform analysis on projects/experiments and uses that analysis to advise on important strategic decisions improving the customer experience, associate efficiency, and/or the Company’s profitability.
  • Builds, maintains, and communicates detailed reporting models, scorecards, Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and related tools to assist corporate leadership in evaluating current products and/or business lines, assessing potential ventures, and identifying current operational weaknesses.
  • Prepares and presents presentations to team and Company leadership on project results using dashboards, PowerPoint, Power BI, and/or other visualization tools.
  • Provides strategic assistance to the BI Director and/or the BI Enterprise Analytics team by making recommendations in the areas of project analysis, team formation and initiatives, and best practices.
  • Supports the development of short and long-term financial insight, goals, and recommendations to help drive profitability.  This includes ad hoc trend/historical analysis in support of budgeting/forecasting processes as needed.
  • Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, decomposes high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.

The BI team operates in a “scrum environment”; therefore, this position may fulfill the role of team member or scrum master depending upon the needs of the group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • This position requires up to 10% travel.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain BI continuing education credentials according to the BI training curriculum.
  • Knowledge of BI best practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Advanced Excel/data management skills strongly preferred.
