Senior Vehicle Equipment Repair Technician
Job Description
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled small engine, automotive, heavy equipment, and marine mechanic work.
- Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment.
- Conduct inspections and service highly complex mechanical systems using advanced diagnostic instruments and software.
- Conduct parts/systems failure analysis, and calibrate, adjust and operate engine analyzers.
- Use standard operating guidelines, shop safety procedures, vendor manuals, manufacturer publications, and bulletins.
- Apply technical knowledge and skills, occasionally modifying standard practice and procedures due to unusual situations.
- Determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work.
- Get written or verbal work orders that indicate the general nature of the task or describe the problem.
- Work on new or unusual assignments that may include more detailed instructions.
- Work under general supervision and may be reviewed/inspected in progress or upon completion.
- Heating and A/C repair experience including electronic and vacuum controls.
- Experience performing electrical/electronic diagnostics and repairing complex wiring on 2 of the following; light, medium, heavy duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Experience performing hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds.
- Troubleshooting and repair experience on at least 2 of the following; light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
- Experience troubleshooting complex electrical/electronic systems.
- Ability to follow instructions and apply techniques, principles, and methods involved in determining and solving basic mechanical problems.
- Skills to use automotive/equipment shop tools, instruments, and machines to diagnose and provide service/repairs/replacements to basic vehicular equipment.
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- You must obtain a Commercial Driver’s (CDL) License Class “A” permit with “N” endorsement within 60 days of hire & a CDL license within 90 days of hire.
- A pre-employment drug test is required.
- We will conduct a background check with your employers over the past 2 years for drug and alcohol use.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
