We are currently hiring for the position of:

BOOKER, FILM CIRCUIT

Reporting to the Programme Manager, Non-Theatrical, The Booker, Film Circuit is responsible for liaising with designated Film Circuit groups across Canada and guiding them in expanding, promoting, and troubleshooting their series and festivals, as well as national exhibition and distribution partners, to program films in a professional and timely manner, and ensure the successful execution of all bookings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Programming in consultation with Film Circuit groups.
  • Liaising with distribution partners to confirm film bookings, rates, and availability.
  • Maintain relationships with Film Circuit groups to determine their ongoing needs and research individual group needs to assist with location growth.
  • Troubleshoot new industry/financial/operation/local challenges with Film Circuit organizers.
  • Previewing Canadian and international films for programming in consideration and inclusion in Film Circuit’s Release Schedules including attending off-site trade screenings, on-site preview screenings leading up to Festival, and previewing screeners.
  • Liaising with exhibition partners to confirm theatre availability, film clearances, and rates, and book dates on behalf of Film Circuit location.
  • Liaising with distributors, Film Circuit groups and our Film and Digital Print Services department to help ensure the on-time delivery of films, and if applicable, KDMs.
  • Contribute writing to Film Circuit publications.
  • Curate and write film synopses, programme notes, and key details for the Release Schedule.
  • Assist in overall planning and production of the Film Circuit Summit.

 

RATE OF PAY:

  • $27.00 / Hourly

 

CONTRACT DATES OR START DATE:

  • August 15, 2022 – December 30, 2022

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Film Studies degree or equivalent film industry experience, an asset;
  • Demonstrated passion for film and cinema culture;
  • In-depth understanding of the film industry in Canada;
  • 3+ years of work experience in arts and culture administration;
  • Desire and ability to take initiative and manage projects;
  • Ability to work within a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities, ability to meet deadlines;
  • Proven ability to provide high quality work within strict deadlines;
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy;
  • Able to handle difficult situations and people with aplomb and grace;
  • Highly motivated, adaptable and open; performs well under pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, previous customer/client services an asset;
  • Strong coordination skills, proficiency in schedule management and event production;
  • Proficiency with computers and applications (including Microsoft Office Suite, relational databases and the Google Suite);
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to work and respond well in fast-paced and high-pressure environments with a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
