We are currently hiring for the position of:

FRONT OF HOUSE ASSISTANT (2 POSITIONS) 

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cinemas Operations, the part-time position of Front of House Assistant will maintain a high standard of customer service at TIFF Bell Lightbox. In addition to the responsibilities of the Usher role, the FOHA assists the Cinema Supervisor with daily operations. The FOHA also provides supplemental support to the Concessions Stand Lead team. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a high standard of entrance-to-exit visitor servicing, assisting with the resolution of visitor issues in a timely and appropriate manner in keeping with established Visitor Experience protocol
  • Assist the Cinemas Supervisor with daily operations. Duties include (but are not limited to) acting as an escalation point if the Supervisor is unavailable, opening a cinema or starting a screening, monitoring and calling rush lines, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Cinema Supervisor
  • Performing cinema checks to proactively identify concerns and resolve those issues
  • When needed, liaise on radio with other departments (Facilities, Box Office and Tech ) to ensure proper daily operations 
  • Assist the Cinema Supervisor with the completion of the daily Cinema Supervisor checklist duties
  • Works alongside the usher staff to ensure the daily duties are being completed
  • While supplementing the Concessions Stand Lead team, ensures established opening, closing, food handling, merchandising, and cleaning protocols are being followed. Is a point of escalation to the Concessions Attendant in these matters
  • Responsible for the shift’s cash handling procedures.  This includes preparation of tills, cash outs and deposits, and accurate safe management
  • Maintenance of inventory and reporting when inventory levels are low
  • Liaising with internal teams to prepare special event orders
  • Sell food and beverage at the concession stand
  • Sell alcoholic beverages while maintaining established TIFF alcohol sales protocol 
  • Operation of point-of-sale system to reconcile transactions and maintain an accurate cash till
  • Ensure cleanliness of food service and storage areas with adherence to food sanitation standards
  • Arrive on-time for scheduled shifts, wearing approved uniform or dress code and prepared for shift
  • Other duties as assigned

 

RATE OF PAY:

  • $16.25 / Hourly

 

START DATE:

  • July 4, 2022

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to provide availability for at least three shifts per week (1 weekday, 1 weekend, 1 additional) for each week outside of the Festival
  • Must be available to work each day of the Toronto International Film Festival in September as well as each training day 
  • Must be adaptable to a flexible work schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Smart Serve certificate
  • Previous experience with food preparation is an asset
  • Previous experience with a point-of-sale system and cash handling is an asset
  • Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • May be required to lift and carry items up to 35lbs
  • Able to communicate fluently in English; knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • CPR and First Aid training are an asset
  • Interest in film, non-profits, arts and culture is considered an asset
