Full-Time Bilingual Grief Care Coordinator

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bilingual Grief Care Coordinator will operate as a primary point of contact for families interested in seeking services at Judi’s House and to provide streamlined support for families during and after their time at JH. This position has two main components:

  1. Clinical Service Coordination
  2. Program Administrative Assistance

This position requires the ability to recognize a family’s needs, conduct assessments, and utilize community resources.  A clear understanding of the purpose and meaning of Judi’s House programs is a vital aspect of this role. Coordination of services requires a strong knowledge of, and familiarity with community agencies. Building strong relationships with outside agencies makes us more adept at supporting families and our mission.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES SOUGHT

  • Verbal and written fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Organized, reliable, responsive and planful.
  • Listening and empathy skills.
  • Comfortable speaking to families grieving a recent death loss.
  • Ability to be a member of a cohesive team.
  • An effective communicator and public speaker.
  • Desire to greet grieving children and their families with compassion and caring.
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a helping related position; preferably with a family focus; and excellent consumer care and attention.
  • Education about human behavior, change and lifespan development.
  • Awareness of self, others, and the environment.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with others.
  • Willingness to learn and take on a self-reflective posture.
  • Technologically savvy with ability to quickly learn multiple systems and applications.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, public health or other related field preferred, associate degree with equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Electronic health records experience helpful.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

CLINICAL SERVICE COORDINATION

  • Conducting phone intakes in English and Spanish.
  • Processing and reviewing all applications to assess for red flags and additional family needs in consultation with supervisor and clinical team.
  • Scheduling family interviews in English and Spanish.
  • Gathering and providing referrals for families.
  • Assisting families in attaining recommended and/or necessary resources.
  • Answering incoming phone calls and responding to questions about programs.
  • Following up with families interested in services.
  • Responsible for maintaining clinically accurate and timely records maintenance and management.
  • Addressing customer services issues/client concern.
  • Managing relevant data about service provision and workload.
  • Participating in additional events and client activities.
  • Uphold highest standards of care and ethics.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE

  • Answering all incoming calls to Judi’s House in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Welcoming and greeting individuals as they arrive.
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of workspace.
  • Providing general office support and tasks as assigned.
  • Completing Clinical Team administrative tasks when support is needed.
  • Assisting evaluation team in coordinating and gathering outcome data.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meeting regularly with Grief Care Manager supervisor.
  • Occasional evenings may be necessary.
  • Cultivating the values of JH/JAG throughout the organization.
  • Attending team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required.
  • Collaborating with Judi’s House staff and performing job duties to advance the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Demonstrating ability to work independently and within a team and seek guidance as appropriate.
  • Demonstrating ability to prioritize, attend to, and complete multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Complying with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to JH/JAG mission

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk as well as bend, squat, and climb stairs.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to current pandemic restrictions, this position is eligible to work remotely.

Judi’s House/JAG Institute (JH/JAG) is the only free-standing organization in Metro Denver devoted solely to supporting grieving youth and families through comprehensive care, research, education, and advocacy. Its mission is to help children and families grieving a death find connection and healing. Since 2002, JH/JAG has supported more than 12,000 individuals, and educated many thousands more, toward the vision that no child should be alone in grief. The integration of research and practice in a community-based center has uniquely positioned JH/JAG to create social change around the issue of childhood bereavement’elevating it as a public priority and serving as a national leader in the effort to increase access to effective grief care for bereaved children and families.
