Job Description

Based out of any of our regional offices, Gateshead, Sheffield, Whiteley, London or Reading. This is an office based role with flex to work from home.
Salarystarting salary: £40,000 per annum

Following our recent growth, and successes, in the employability and careers sector, we are therefore inviting applications from experienced Software & Systems Developer to join our team.
This post, as part of the North East Ambition Project, is part funded by the European Structural and Investment Funds 2014 – 2020 and all activity must comply with contractual regulations.
 
What is North East Ambition? 

The North East Ambition programme is designed to support SMEs and micro businesses across the North East to link more effectively with local and national skills initiatives. The programme is a partnership between Education Development Trust and the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, building upon the successful North East Ambition pilot. The North East Ambition programme is a European Social Fund match funded programme that runs from December 2020 – December 2023.

We are recruiting a Software and Systems Developer at Education Development Trust across our Employability and Careers directorate with at least 2 years development experience. The directorate manages more than £15m of public contracts to help improve the lives of young people and adults.

You will be part of a strong work force of over 2000 people in the UK and worldwide in an organisation that has been supporting education for the past 50 years.

As a Software Developer, you’ll enhance your exposure to the full stack, working on our in-house CRM solutions, front end through to SQL on the backend but with the main focus on C# .Net development. You will work closely with senior developers to carry out design, development, implementation and maintenance of a range of effective and accurate CRM solutions through the process of coding for the Careers & Employability division. You should be comfortable working as part of a team and as support to any tier of our in-house solution.

You will work in an agile environment, with the ability to shape the future of our solutions. As an organisation we don’t stand still and over the last 18 months have move purely to cloud based services through Azure and implementing Azure functionalities.

Essential Experience:

  • Knowledge of C# Object Orientated Programming skills (at least 2 years exposure)
  • Produce and manage documentation of implementations, where required
  • Front line software development support including bug detection and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of API connections and maintenance
  • An understanding and use of DevOps tools
  • Support and implement test plans and work toward automating tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.
  • A good understanding of the Azure platform and its associated tools; specifically, Developer/Web/Security
  • Developing and optimising SQL queries
  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
  • Be collaborative with strong communication skills
