We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Purchasing Agent. Over the last 45 years, Precision Hydraulic Cylinders (PHC) has built a reputation as a world-class hydraulic cylinder manufacturer through our superior quality control and innovation. PHC is a leading supplier of hydraulic cylinders for material handling, construction, agriculture, and transportation markets. If you join our team, your work will ensure customers across the world have high-quality products they can use to keep their businesses running.
As a Purchasing Agent you will have the opportunity to manage purchases both domestically and internationally. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by managing the inventory and purchasing aspects for the business.
So, what will you be doing as a Purchasing Agent?
- Tactical purchasing of materials and components based on MRP & MRO output
- Monitor and track material costs for purchased goods
- Coordinate logistics activities of inbound materials with freight carriers and receiving department.
- Monitor and report supplier performance monthly
- Maintain and enhance relationships with suppliers
- Ensure ISO procedures are followed and kept current
- Continuously assess and improve purchasing processes by reviewing standards, costs, and supplier feedback.
- Reconcile invoice discrepancies with suppliers.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Minimum 1-2 years of purchasing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong excel skills and analytical competence
- Strong teamwork skills
- Proficient in a working ERP environment and understanding MRP
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization
Things we consider a plus
- Promotability – ability to take on greater responsibilities in the future
- Experience with MRP outputs and reports
- Willingness and ability to travel
