About the role
Our team is looking for a Part Time Content Creator & Storyteller to help us articulate the impact of the vital and innovative support system we provide through our music programming.
Working closely with the leadership team, you will play a key role in communicating what we do and why for our students, families, community partners and for our donors. This role will be based in Vancouver with an initial requirement of 5-10 hours per week and potential to expand. Occasional travel to other SoM sites will be required.
Your responsibilities will be challenging and varied, and will include:
- Expanding our communications reach through the regular design, production and maintenance of our print and digital media
- Solidifying the communications package necessary to share our case statement in bold, original, informative and persuasive ways
- Designing and creating consistent, shareable content that assists in all areas of our operations from student recruitment, admissions and enrollment information; program offerings and events; as well as annual reports on impact and successes

Your days will be filled with…
- Writing, editing, publishing, distributing and promoting messaging and new content at regular intervals
- Generating, researching, and pitching ideas for new content and creative opportunities to repurpose existing content
- Staying current on industry trends to create stronger more engaging content and strategies for expanding our reach
- Maintaining SoM’s website and working closely with our Social Media Director to ensure all students, staff and families are informed of our offerings
You will be successful in this position if you have…
- Stellar interviewing, writing and editing skills with a passion for ethical storytelling through both editorial and multimedia content
- Visual, audio and video content creation experience with a well-developed eye and ear for best practices in each and a strong portfolio of work to demonstrate this experience
- A curiosity and desire to gain a thorough understanding of our organization’s overall programs, fundraising, communications and advocacy
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to identify opportunities, lead and coordinate story collection, production and distribution
- Experience in creating and deploying strategic communication plans
- Fluency in visual storytelling demonstrated through storyboarding experience
- Expertise with online platforms including Squarespace, LinkedIn and Instagram
