Trans Housing Center – Program Director

The Trans Housing Coalition is seeking a full time Program Director with clinical and supervisory experience to join our 20-month old growing team. This is a crucial role to assist us with improving and expanding our agency’s programs and services.

THC works to uplift trans and gender non-conforming people of color impacted by chronic homelessness in Atlanta. To accomplish our mission, THC utilizes a Housing First approach to provide and connect our members to emergency, transitional, and permanent housing, as well as intensive case management services. Housing First is an evidence-based philosophy founded on the belief that housing is a basic human right. THC echoes this belief and seeks to offer low-barrier, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and affirming services to trans and gender non-conforming people impacted by substance abuse, un-or underemployment, lack of access to medical care, mental illness, and so on. Furthermore, THC implements these services from a harm-reductionist, transformative justice lens. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience applying all these philosophies in their work and in collaborations with partnering agencies.

The Program Director is responsible for managing THC’s programs, including leading and supervising a case management team of three full-time employees, and ensuring accurate and timely program data reports. The Program Director will also support organizational growth through the expansion of current programs and development of new ones. This individual will be a collaborative & experienced team leader with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of THC.

Responsibilities

Coordinating THC’s intensive case management program to meet community needs.

Leading the case management staff by providing ongoing supervision as needed, facilitating weekly meetings with the case management team, and ensuring case managers are meeting monthly deliverables.

Managing the Apricot case management software system as an administrator and providing support to THC staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date data entry as needed.

Establishing partnerships with other agencies that provide relevant short term housing, rapid-rehousing, and permanent supportive housing interventions to support clients with housing needs.

Coordinating or providing clinical and administrative training to THC staff on an ongoing, as needed basis, including linking staff to opportunities for professional development.

Maintaining data & client reporting requirements necessary to sustain grant funding & program deliverables, including accurate financial reporting for program expenses as needed.

Developing and implementing new THC programs to expand the agency and meet the community’s growing needs (e.g., clothing closet program, etc.)

Building coalition partnerships to establish wrap-around linkage services to clients (e.g., medical services, behavioral health services, legal services, etc.).

Ensuring that client-case management relationships are adhering to Housing First, trauma-informed, and client-centered standards of care.

Building a working partnership with the Atlanta Continuum of Care/Partners for Home so that THC can become a future housing provider.

Assisting the Director with researching and applying for grant funding relevant to THC programs and needs.

Arranging innovative and creative ideas to address homelessness utilizing Housing First principles.

Advocating for the trans & gender non-conforming community alongside the case managers on a micro, mezzo, and macrolevel as needed, ensuring that clients receive holistic and fair treatment from external service providers.

Overseeing housing search resources & coordinating any landlord engagements/agreements.

Delivering crisis management and intervention support to THC case managers, as needed.

Participating in all staff meetings, team meetings, and supervisions.

Ensure effective communication between program participants, landlords and partner agencies.

Supporting with other duties as assigned by the Director as needed.

Qualifications

People of trans experience and with direct personal or familial experience with homelessness are deeply welcome to apply.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and 3+ years of experience working in housing interventions.

Strong understanding of the systemic causes of homelessness, Housing First principles, and other evidence based housing interventions.

3+ years of experience supervising, mentoring, training, and managing a team.

Commitment to trauma-informed care and transformative justice.

Proven track record of planning and implementing equitable, transformative rehousing strategies.

Experience building coalitions and strengthening partnerships between organizations.

Detail oriented, highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks, meet deadlines, and handle crisis situations when needed.

Excellent leadership, communication, and team building skills.

Self-motivated with ability to take initiative and be resourceful.

Proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, or similar software.

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and valid liability insurance and be willing to transport program participants, when needed.

Preferred

Master’s degree in Social Work or related field, with clinical licensure.

Experience working with trans women of color experiencing homelessness.

Experience working with chronically homeless individuals with disabilities (physical, mental, and/or substance abuse), especially those impacted by the criminal legal system.

1-3 years of grant writing experience.

1-3 years of experience using Social Solutions Apricot database.

Work Hours, Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $65,000 – $80,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits are 100% employer-paid.

The Program Director is a full-time, 40+ hour per week position. Work will occur between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm, but will also include some evening, early morning, and possible on-call weekend hours. THC is a based in Atlanta, GA with no physical office space; as such, this is a remote position. However, candidates must be currently located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA.
