Job Description

Title: Dispensary General Manager

Job Class: Salaried

Job Summary: South Shore Buds (“SSB”) is seeking a highly organized Dispensary General Manager with a passion for cannabis education and delivering superior customer experiences to oversee the day to day operations of our dispensary in Marshfield, MA. Our goal is to build a staff of the most educated budtenders in the state and establish SSB as a premium cannabis retail destination. The Dispensary General Manager is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and developing budtenders as well as optimizing retail sales opportunities and customer experience while maintaining high customer service standards. This position will work cross-functionally with the compliance, inventory and marketing teams to ensure the customer experience addresses customers’ needs and preferences in a responsible and compliant manner. This position will report directly to the Senior Director for Sales once that position is staffed and in the interim will report to the President of B&M.

Responsibilities

Staffing, Training and Development

  • Work closely with Dir. of Administration on hiring qualified front of house staff
  • Maintain and update staffing plans to ensure adequate staffing levels and accurate payroll budgeting
  • Create and communicate biweekly staff schedule
  • Develop training content for all front of house staff with an emphasis on compliance and customer education
  • Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Time-bound) goals for all staff and maintain quarterly progress meetings
  • Perform annual staff performance evaluations
  • Maintain personnel records and training logs in partnership with Compliance, HR and Administration
  • Deliver performance feedback and establish performance improvement plans
  • Promote, discipline and/or terminate as needed and as discussed with leadership team

Customer Experience

  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-functioning sales floor for the comfort of all customers and employees
  • Act as final point of contact for escalated customer service concerns
  • Make outbound calls to customers who have requested to be contacted by a manager
  • Provide compliant product and usage information to customers
  • Compile feedback from customers as needed on product, ordering and retail experience to support continuous improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement to the customer experience through data analysis, research and recommendations to SSB leadership team

Sales

  • Work with sales and marketing teams to execute sales strategies
  • Stay up to date on regional competition’s sales tactics, report and summarize for the executive team. Secret shop competition as necessary
  • Report weekly and monthly sales metrics, using historical data and trends to inform retail operations and sales strategies

Qualifications

  • Professional demeanor in person, over the phone and in writing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; active listening a must
  • Extreme attention to detail; ensuring staff and customers always have the most accurate information and presenting it with care and confidence
  • Solid follow up skills and the ability to see a project or task through to completion
  • Desire to continuously improve the customer experience and meet sales goals
  • Proven cannabis management experience or management experience in other regulated retail environment
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts cannabis regulations required
  • Passionate about the growing social acceptance of cannabis, desire to increase Adult Use access and reduce the stigma associated with its use
  • Cannabis product knowledge and a willingness to educate others
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively on one’s own

Other Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must be able to obtain proper badging as required by the state of MA
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push, and/or carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings, weekends and holidays
