Full-Time Associate Director, Community Education

Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Community Education & Health Equities, the Associate Director, Community Education plays an integral role in the functioning of the community education department, cultivating partnerships in the community, and delivering educational programs. An instrumental participant in the development of new curricula and the delivery of existing programs, this person provides strong guidance to the community education team to ensure grant deliverables and community needs are met.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Deliver community and caregiver education classes both in-person and online throughout Los Angeles County
  • Develop new curricula and participate in the evaluation of new programs to ensure they meet community needs
  • Ensure all programs are delivered consistently throughout the community; ensure evidence-based and evidence-derived programs are delivered with fidelity
  • Develop a volunteer corps for community education (Speakers Bureau); develop county-wide relationships with partners to deploy volunteers to conduct outreach and provide workshops and presentations; recruit, train, and manage volunteers
  • Oversee master calendar for community education team to ensure grant deliverables are scheduled and staff calendar assignments are equitably assigned
  • Manage implementation of community education grants as assigned, including budget oversight, staff responsibilities, and ensuring that all deliverables are met
  • Conduct outreach within the community and cultivate partnerships with community partners
  • Develop and implement caregiver/community events; assist with securing sponsorship in conjunction with the development department
  • Oversee the use and data quality for Lyyti, the community education calendar/registration/planning software; run reports as needed
  • Supervise community education staff as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Minimum of five years’ of progressively responsible community education positions
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Strong curriculum development skills, preferably with an understanding of adult learning principles
  • Experience managing other people to achieve a high level of productivity
  • Experience implementing, delivering, and monitoring grant deliverables, including budgets
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Understanding of diverse communities, including cultural and linguistic needs and needs of older adults
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative
  • California driver license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and virtually, in writing and verbally to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during event periods as needed
  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties
