Full-Time Communications Manager
Job Description
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Consistently excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills in print and electronic media
- Ability to scope, organize and execute multiple projects with interrelated goals, including translating complex concepts into easy-to-understand content
- Ability to work in print, on websites, social media platforms, and corporate intranets
- Demonstrated knowledge of AP style
- Knowledge of the digital landscape, including current industry and user trends, emerging technologies and standards, information architecture, and interactive design
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the areas of graphic design and production of print and electronic materials
- Ability to be a strategically focused trend watcher and think globally
- Proven skills in organization, planning and evaluation, creative problem-solving
- Ability to strictly adhere to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
- Demonstrated proficiency with MSWord and Excel
- Familiarity with HTML, Umbraco, or similar content management platform
- Familiarity with photo databases and media tracking software and ability to quickly learn and use these platforms
- Ability to work effectively and with a positive attitude, both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and effectively manage change
- Ability to work productively and effectively in a hybrid work environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, English, written communications, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in editing, writing, publication production within an organization
- Minimum of five years’ experience in public relations, including media relations, preferred
- Minimum of two years experience in social media strategy and content development
- Experience in museum field desirable
- Experience in creating or editing video content desirable
- Experience in graphic design desirable
