This post is funded by Carers Trust’s Making Carers Count Programme, which is supported by the Covid-19 Support Fund. 

Salary: £31,369 per annum (pro rata)
Hours and Contract: 28 hours Fixed term contract for 2 years
Location: Camden, opportunity for some home working
Department: Development, Learning and Activities Team
Reports to: Anna Campbell; Community Engagement Project Manager
Benefits: 30 Day annual leave per annum (pro rata for part time employees), 3% Pension

We are looking for a Community Engagement Support Worker with a focus on engaging with underrepresented organisations and unpaid carers, specifically those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.

This is a new role and you will be joining us at a time when Camden Carers have pledged to become an anti-racist organisation. Covid-19 has both highlighted and exacerbated the inequalities faced by underrepresented carers in Camden.
The post-holder will be joining the Development, Learning and Activities Team and will be supporting on a range of initiatives to improve access and quality of life for unpaid Carers in Camden from underrepresented groups, to ensure our services are accessible for everyone.

You will work with the Community Engagement Project Manager to build and maintain relationships with community organisations across Camden, deliver in-person training and events to raise awareness of underrepresented carers’ issues and rights, and provide appropriate individualised support, information and advocacy to unpaid carers.
We are looking for someone who has experience in community engagement, skills in working with underrepresented communities, and the ability to build trusting relationships across a range of stakeholders. You will need a good understanding of, and commitment to, anti-racist practice and the needs of unpaid carers.

You will be working as part of the friendly Development, Learning and activities team, which is part of the wider Camden Carers Service staff.  You will need flexibility to attend some meetings at evenings and weekends.

You will need to be committed to, and will be supported with, professional development. A diverse panel of staff and carers will be part of the interview panel. We highly recommend you read the job description attached before you apply for this job.
