Full-Time Carpenter
Job Description
Carpenters perform various skilled carpentry duties involving rough and finish carpentry necessary in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and other structures. Position normally works repairing and maintaining doors, floors, windows, partitions, bridges, and small parts of buildings; participate in the setting and installation of fences, gates, sidewalks, curbs, vaults, manholes, drains, and foundations for towers and other equipment; repairing building and maintaining tables, chairs, benches, cabinets, counters, and other wood equipment; installing hardware on doors, windows and related wood parts; grading lumber to determine economically appropriate material for jobs; forming and pouring concrete; participating in excavation and placement of reinforcing steel and anchor bolts.
AND
Five (5) years of full-time paid employment as a journey level carpenter.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling a minimum of five (5) years that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of this position would qualify.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Washington State driver’s license, valid first aid card with CPR, flagging and forklift certification by the end of the probationary period and maintenance thereafter.
Positions assigned to the Tacoma Police Department may require additional background checks which may include fingerprinting and/or a polygraph test.
