Full-Time Director, Digital Analytics

Job Description

THE ROLE 

As the Director of Digital Analytics, you will establish a vision for how Teach For America can effectively measure its digital efforts to drive continuous improvement and lead a team to execute that vision.

You will oversee a small team of analysts and data scientists, helping them produce effective reports and dashboards for stakeholders across our Experience and External Affairs teams, using technologies including Google Analytics, Google BigQuery, R, PowerBI, SAS, and more.

You and your team will look for actionable insights emerging from the data we collect, partnering with teams like Product Management and User Experience to recommend impactful work we could do to improve participant experiences or organizational impact. You will define measurement plans for the digital products we build and ensure product-level measurements are connected to enterprise-wide KPIs.

In partnership with key members of our IT team, you and your team will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our infrastructure related to digital data, especially Google Analytics and Salesforce Marketing Cloud-related data. Working closely with them and with TFA’s larger Learning team, you will help integrate digital data with other data that TFA collects (such as recruitment pipeline or regional impact data).

You will use digital data to make Teach For America more effective, and make Teach For America more effective at using digital data.

Please note that the internal title for this role is Senior Managing Director, Digital Analytics & Insights.

THE PERSON

  • Oversee Teach For America’s digital analytics practice, including defining how we collaborate with other business intelligence units in the organization and investing others in the value of digital insights

  • Oversee development of measurement plans for TFA’s digital products and campaigns, in collaboration with product management and marketing leadership as well as TFA’s Learning team

  • Manage and mentor individual contributor digital analysts and data scientists

  • In partnership with other insights teams as well as User Experience, identify and report on actionable insights arising from digital data

  • In partnership with IT, develop a roadmap for TFA’s digital measurement infrastructure, including future technologies and skills needed to measure performance of TFA’s digital products and campaigns

  • Manage relationships with Teach For America’s digital analytics vendor partners

MUST HAVES

  • Prior Experience

    • Several years experience managing and mentoring digital analysts and/or data scientists

    • Several years experience designing measurement strategies and iteratively improving them

    • Several years experience overseeing reporting on both products and campaigns

    • Experience collaborating with other business intelligence units within an organization, and investing others in modern digital measurement practices

    • Experience with measurement in education or public policy preferred

  • Skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complicated concepts to non-technical colleagues

    • Fluency with Google Analytics particularly and Google Marketing Platform generally

    • Familiarity with the Salesforce ecosystem from a measurement perspective, especially Salesforce Marketing Cloud

    • Familiarity with standard data science and reporting tools, such as BigQuery, R, PowerBI, SAS, etc.

  • Work Demands

    • National travel for in-person meetings approximately once per quarter; some weekend and evening work expected

THE TEAM

Teach For America’s national Digital Products team is responsible for TFA’s digital product portfolio, including our public website, our application process, the tools we provide to the teachers we train, and digital experiences for our network of 60,000 alumni. We consist of Product Management, User Experience, and Digital Analytics sub-teams, and our charge is to make TFA’s digital ecosystem as valuable as possible for the organization and for our program’s participants.
