Full-Time General Manager

Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a General Manager within our Middletown, CT team to help support our Aerospace business.  At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions.  How high are our quality standards, you ask?  So much so, that we have products on-board the Space Launch System with NASA, as well as the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets!  If you join our team, your work will ensure families across the world fly a little safer, wherever their travels may take them.

As a General Manager you will have the opportunity to manage the overall P&L within a high product mix, low volume aerospace business.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by providing strategic leadership through operational excellence.  The team you will be working with are seasoned professionals that truly care about the work they are doing, and values a people-focused leader who can help take their business to the next level.

So, what will you be doing as a General Manager?

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve and maintain stability of financial performance
  • Oversee Sales & Operations Planning activities
  • Implement suitable cost performance indicators and demonstrate achievement of operational efficiency improvements
  • Increase profitable sales revenue
  • Drive operational and purchasing activities delivering cost and working capital improvements
  • Complete appropriate capital expenditure requests and justify recommended investments accordingly
  • Achieve satisfactory reporting, including projection submission, variance explanations, and monthly business reviews
  • Oversee regulatory compliance and provide suitable interaction with government and regulatory bodies
  • Recommend organization structure as appropriate to maximize performance
  • Hire, train, develop, and provide leadership and mentoring to the branch management team, putting in place suitable succession planning activities where needed
  • Drive conformance to company policies and achieve satisfactory audit performance

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Aerospace, or related field. Post graduate degree preferred
  • 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability for full P&L responsibility
  • Successful track record with solid job tenure in past positions
  • Knowledge of quality certifications and inter-workings between supplier and customer
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach and manage experienced professionals within the company
