Job Description
The Boys Indoor Lead, National Team Development Program (NTDP) is a regular full time position reporting to the Senior Manager, NTDP. The position will assume a critical role in coordinating our efforts to identify, recruit, and accelerate the development of high potential youth volleyball players for the ultimate purpose of strengthening future Senior National Teams and improving international competitiveness across Olympic and Paralympic Disciplines of the game. Critically, every initiative within the NTDP will be constructed with the long-term health and wellness of the athlete in mind. Specifically, this position serves as the primary point of contact and management of Boys Indoor programs, events, Age Group National Teams, athlete pathways, and associated logistics. Cross departmental utilization is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is in Colorado Springs.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
- Lead Boys Indoor program logistics and operations to include event locations, contracts for hosts, registrations, independent contractors, transportation, and on-site operations.
- Lead the optimization of departmental resources through effective financial planning and management. Develop and monitor annual budgets.
- Lead NTDP Training Series and local/regional Accelerator initiatives for Boys Indoor to provide differentiated and developmentally appropriate training and competition experiences for selected athletes.
- Serve as Team Leader for Age Group National Teams for domestic training and international competitions, including management of logistics, travel, and athlete oversight.
- Coordinate processes for athlete selection and post-scout ranking. Critically evaluate current processes for areas of improvement to maximize benefit to our athletes and the sport of volleyball.
- Support recruitment of selected athletes and utilize effective communication strategies in support of athletes, parents, club coaches, directors, and Region Commissioners for Boys Indoor.
- Contribute to athlete evaluation initiatives including process development, calibration across the NTDP Scouting Network, and creation of feedback reports.
- Seek out and synthesize different ideas and perspectives that can contribute to innovative and impactful programs in support of our strategic initiatives.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of individual athlete development plans, athlete tracking initiatives, and athlete development research.
- Implement metrics to evaluate and report upon athlete progress, athlete, coach, and parent engagement, stakeholder satisfaction, and program impact.
- Contribute to the development of high quality, online learning experiences for athletes, coaches/club directors, and parents.
- Support the development of a national network of qualified scouts to effectively identify high potential youth players in each discipline of the game.
- Collaborate with internal departments effectively market, and communicate all elements of the NTDP to athletes, parents, coaches, Regions, and other various stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Education Services and National Team staffs to ensure that programs, philosophies, and language are aligned across the competitive spectrum.
- Additional projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in event/program management.
- Demonstrated understanding of holistic youth athlete development.
- Ability to travel extensively to support department programs.
- Proficient with office-related software including word processing, database, and spreadsheet.
- Must be prompt, professional, and detail oriented with a genuine commitment to deliver world-class programs.
- Demonstrate exceptional work ethic and intrinsically motivated by the opportunity to continuously improve.
- Provide excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively and speak with candor, empathy, and humility to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be able to work indoor & outdoor with moderate to heavy physical labor for extended periods of time ensuring program/event success. The role may also require long durations of work in indoor gymnasiums.
- Experience with Hudl online video platform and athlete data management systems is not required but will be positively considered.
- Must be able to successfully pass a USAV background screening (prior to hire date).
- Must successfully complete SafeSport Training within two weeks of hire date.
Salary: $ 45,000
