About the position 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, the Financial Analyst is responsible for facilitating preparation and continuous analysis of all budgets and forecast processes. Serving as a business partner to the organization to connect programmatic and other functional activities and work to finance and accounting. This position works very closely with other organizational leaders to continuously monitor and educate the team on expenditures for business areas and how to manage to individual budgets. This role also works in partnership with the Controller and Accounting Specialist to ensure accounting accuracy for StriveTogether’s use of funds. As a key member of the StriveTogether team, they ensure that StriveTogether leadership has the data needed to make informed business decisions enterprise wide. Commitment to the organization’s mission is critical to success. This is an exempt position. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages the organizational budgeting process, utilizing Adaptive Insights as a budgeting tool, as well as input from program and other functional leaders across the organization to develop assumptions 
  • Develop and manage the Adaptive Insights models, including data integrations and data visualizations to be used for workforce planning, forecasting, budgeting and month-end close analysis 
  • Proactively identify enhancements to existing Adaptive Insights models to increase forecasting efficiency and guide the development of new models and reporting views, dashboards, financial reports 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information 
  • Create ad hoc templates, reports and analysis for use by managers to evaluate performance 
  • Sort and mine sets of data from multiple data sources (General ledger, CRM, Excel) to identify trends/variances 
  • Train and educate budget owners on how to strategically track and manage their budgets 
  • Proactively monitor expenses against designated restricted funds and budgeted targets to assess and project the financial position for the organization in real-time 
  • Partner with the Controller to designate and plan fund allocations for projected personnel, travel and other expenditures in the forecast 
  • Facilitate the execution of contracts for the organization, ensuring all are properly approved, signed, and retained by StriveTogether 
  • Work with Controller to ensure accurate preparation of monthly financial statements 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, operations, accounting, business administration or other related degree is preferred but not required 
  • Two to four years of financial analyst experience including work in or with nonprofit organizations 
  • Experience in fund accounting and advanced nonprofit accounting systems 
  • Experience in full-cycle organizational budgeting methodologies and with budgeting tools/applications 
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic big picture thinking 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability and desire to connect financial and programmatic concepts and communicate them to individuals at all levels including senior management, boards of directors, and finance and non-finance stakeholders 
  • Advanced Excel and data visualization experience required 
  • Adaptive Insights experience, or experience with similar budgeting or forecasting application preferred 
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office 
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software 
  • Experience with Intacct, Expensify and Salesforce is a plus 
  • Ability to be self-directed and independent, with a track record of taking initiative 

 

Position Details 

This is an exempt position with a salary of $45,000 -$64,000. StriveTogether offers competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience and skills.  This position will work out of the Cincinnati office.
