Another Source’s client, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP), is recruiting a Director of Human Resources to join their team. This role can be located anywhere in the United States, with preference in the Los Angeles area.

About the Role: 

The National Director of Human Resources is responsible for the creation and administration of Human Resources plans, policies, and procedures for all staff and faculty across TCSPP’s 7 ground locations and online campus. The nature of the position allows for it to be completed entirely remotely, but the National Director is also welcome to work at any of our ground campuses. The National Director of Human Resources must be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment, and have extensive experience with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, and receives services, support, and assistance from Human Resources at TCS Education System (TCS). Working closely with leadership, the position provides strong Human Resources vision and oversees HR services, DEI initiatives, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, records, workers compensation, temporary and student employment, and staff training. 

 

Principle Duties: 

  • Provide supervision of day-to-day Human Resources operations, including coordination of 4 HR Generalists across 8 TCSPP campuses. 
  • Serve as the project lead for the creation and implementation of DEI strategies, presentations, and trainings. 
  • Provide oversight of the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems; anticipate future problems whenever possible; and develop, recommend, and initiate effective resolutions. 
  • Provide assistance to senior and executive leadership in the development and documentation of processes, policies, and procedures. 
  • Drive employee compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures; ensure compliance with all federal and state employment and labor laws; monitor the accurate processing of all employment and HR related forms (i.e. I-9, W-4, etc.), including licensure for applicable faculty. 
  • Manage the employee onboarding and termination processes, including the maintenance of accurate documentation for all new hires and terminations. 
  • Safeguard confidential employment data, health records, and electronic data; accurately manage employee files, input/remove employees in the HRIS database, and create efficiencies/changes to the employee filing system as required. 
  • Partner with TCS payroll to ensure employee information is processed timely and accurately. 
  • Administer employee benefits, including promoting awareness and education and coordinating informational sharing. 
  • Communicate employment policies, procedures, management guidelines, and accreditation requirements to a variety of audiences across multiple communication platforms. 
  • Manage faculty contract process, including renewals, new contracts, and terminations. 
  • Support additional recruitment efforts for unique positions and provide strategic recruitment ideas and improvements. 
  • Manage the annual benefits Open Enrollment period in coordination with TCS 
  • Manage the performance evaluation process, including meeting with managers to determine goals for team/individual performers and coaching managers on delivering constructive feedback. 
  • Coordinate with system affiliates to facilitate training sessions for employees which may include: team building, communication, management training, sexual harassment training, new employee orientation, open enrollment, process changes, etc. 
  • Deliver metrics, analytical data, and reporting to support the creation of budgets, forecasts, and employee surveys. 
  • Sustain an environment where Human Resources collaborates with faculty and staff in the planning and execution of services, utilizing appropriate communication channels. 

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrable knowledge of State Employment Law and Federal Employment Law 
  • Previous higher education experience, knowledge of training and development, and professional certification. 
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with DEI initiatives and programs.  
  • Strategic thinking which leads to the development of creative solutions for unique situations. 
  • Familiarity with best practices in all aspects of Human Resources and data driven solutions. 
  • Practiced strategically and operationally in leadership roles.  
  • Comfortable dealing with difficult situations and managing issues accordingly. 
  • Experience with organizational structure and restructuring; knowledge regarding workforce operating efficiencies. 
  • Strong leadership skills and team-oriented thinking, effective interpersonal skills, superior written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Effective collaboration with all levels and styles of management through excellent listening and communication skills that engender trust and support. 
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with specific attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; in particular, Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Ability to travel as needed. 

 

Position Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.  
  • Certified Diversity Professional preferred. 
  • SHRM Certified SHRM CP/SCP PHR/SPHR or HR-specific graduate degree preferred. 
  • At least eight years of generalist Human Resources experience are required, at least three of which must have been in a management role.
