Full-Time Housing Navigator at Day Social Services

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Housing Navigator is a type of Case Manager who maintains a caseload of individual program participants experiencing homelessness, many of whom have multiple barriers (i.e. serious mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, frequent contact with law enforcement, etc.). The Housing Navigator engages and develops relationships with participants and provides trauma-informed support services so that secure, stable, and permanent housing may be achieved. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Compass Day Services includes the Client Services Office (CSO), the Hygiene Center, and the Day Services Center. The Day Center offers comfort and stability to those in need. People can seek refuge, meals, and basic services, as well as connect with housing navigation support, case management, mental health counseling, and nursing services. These services help move people toward increased stability, independence, and self-sufficiency. The Hygiene Center offers men and women experiencing homelessness a place to use the restroom, take a hot shower, and do a load of laundry. The CSO provides free mail and banking services for individuals who are housing insecure. A mailing address provides stability and the opportunity to apply for benefits, seek employment, access resources, and exercise the right to vote. Compass Day Services is a welcoming space where people can find a path out of homelessness.

LOCATION: Pioneer Square Neighborhood (Seattle, WA)
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm; with weekly staff meetings Thursday 4pm
SALARY RANGE: $21.21 per hour (Level 1)

QUALIFICATIONS
• Work experience is a key factor for success in this role. In addition, success in this role requires a passion for knowledge and drive for continuing professional development or education. Associate/Bachelor/Master’s in social work or related field would be a compliment to the required experience.
• A minimum of 1-year experience in case management, desired.
• A minimum of 2-years’ experience in a social/human service setting related to housing and homelessness, required.
• Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
• Current WA State Food Handlers Permit, desired (If not current, will be sponsored within 1-month of hire).
• Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
• Valid WA driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a driving record that meets Compass standards, desired.
