About the Business Development Program

The Business Development Program is the entry point to a successful career in sales at Fidelity. In this Program, you will learn the fundamentals and operations of our business, the foundation for strong relationships with our clients. We have seen many of our sales team members transition seamlessly into their next promotion thanks to the knowledge they gain in the Business Development Program.  Since 2016, 100% of our Business Development Managers and District Vice Presidents positions have been filled by internal promotions – proof that we support and develop the best sales people. 

Whether you have in-depth knowledge of the mutual fund industry or don’t know what an ETF is, our extensive, top-notch training is designed to teach you everything you need to know.

What you will be doing:

  • Learning about the fundamentals of our business, who our clients are and what their needs are, and how Fidelity can meet those needs.
  • Following two weeks of intensive training, you will answer questions from investment professionals, their assistants and unit holders, having the opportunity to put what you learned in class into practice.
  • Building on your industry knowledge by attending multiple weeks of training focused on helping you understand our product offerings and important policies.
  • Rounding out your investment and product knowledge through an intensive week of training offered by industry experts.

What you will need to have:

  • A University degree (upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply), preferably in a business/finance/marketing related field
  • Passion for the financial markets and the desire to learn more about the investment industry
  • A desire to learn and apply strong consultative selling skills to understand unique client investment needs and help them meet those needs through a wide range of solutions
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • The ability to work independently and on a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-discipline and the ability to stay focused
  • Fluency in French is required if you are interested in working in our Montreal office
  • Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset
