Full-Time Senior Performance Test Engineer (Remote)

About This Position:

We are seeking a Performance Test Engineer to join our team where you will be able to manage multiple complex, large-scale projects for performance testing initiatives. You will assess the performance needs of an application and develop a performance test strategy to evaluate application/infrastructure performance, while working with scrum teams, architecture, and infrastructure teams. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and troubleshooting to identify root cause of performance-related issues and performance improvement opportunities, providing technical leadership, assisting the development team in identifying coding improvements, and coaching/mentoring performance test engineers and scrum teams on performance testing best practices.

As our Performance Test Engineer, you must be able to communicate risks, employ appropriate risk mitigation strategies and tactics, and effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders at all levels. What You Will Be Doing:

You will assess the performance needs of an application and develops a performance test strategy to assess application/infrastructure performance, working with the project managers, architecture, application development, and infrastructure teams.  You will be responsible for identifying performance improvement opportunities, tuning the application infrastructure for optimal performance, and assisting the development team in identifying coding improvements and best practices.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Design, development, execution and implementation of performance testing for enterprise and custom applications in a pre-implementation stage.
  • Assess and provide in-depth analysis, recommendations, and fine-tuning for performance improvements prior to implementing changes in the software production environment and/or application.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting, identifying performance bottle necks and failures and able to identify potential points of failure related to application and system performance.
  • Solid understanding of different performance testing types and testing strategies, including Reliability, Scalability, Soak, and Performance.
  • Proven ability to write and execute performance testing scripts following testing best practices.
  • Develop, gather, and publish metrics and trending.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with project managers, project team, architecture, application development, and infrastructure teams, business stakeholders, and business users in both a team environment and independently
  • Ability to provide direction to others.
  • Develop and execute test cases for medium to complex changes across multiple applications.
  • Proficiency with performance testing tools, such as JMeter, BlazeMeter, Google Lighthouse, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, such as App Dynamics, Splunk, or similar tools.
  • Experience in automation is a plus, but not required.
  • Some minor programming experience is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a 4-year degree in technology or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ prior experience in Information Technology.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a performance testing role.
  • Demonstrate solid analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the project team, application teams and business customers is required.
  • Should demonstrate good initiative, be self-motivated, be a dependable resource for the team, who can also be assertive as needed.
  • Proficiency with performance testing tools, such as JMeter, BlazeMeter, Google Lighthouse, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, such as App Dynamics, Splunk, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with Agile teams and development pipelines.
  • Communication, organization, time management skills, and attention to detail are critical.
  • Must continue to enhance technical knowledge and skills through research and experimentation, in-house and external classes.
  • Knowledge of auto auction industry is a plus.
