Part-Time Part-Time Content Marketing Manager

Canary Benefits, Inc. – Posted by krista@workwithcanary.com Anywhere

Job Description

The role

Canary is growing quickly, and we’re looking for a creative, organized and driven Senior Content Marketing Manager to join our team and make a big impact.

The Senior Content Marketing Manager will help Canary reach its next level of growth by producing content across multiple platforms and formats that boosts positive awareness and drives engagement. You might be an ideal candidate for this role if you have experience producing content that engages and educates B2B audiences. You take a systematic, data-driven approach to understanding content performance and enjoy testing new marketing tactics, technologies, and formats.

What you’ll do:

  • Produce content to support all phases of the sales cycle, including blog posts, impact data reports, presentations, press releases, content for trade publications/conferences, videos and longform thought leadership content
  • Build and maintain a multi-channel content strategy and calendar. Main channels include Canary’s LinkedIn page, Blog (website) and the team is interested in building out email marketing and PR capabilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and customer challenges in order to build more impactful content.
  • Work closely with senior leaders, marketing teammates, and other departments to create effective content strategies and assets that help tell our story and communicate key messages to the market.
  • Work with freelancers (graphic designer, copywriter, video creator) and internal team members to ensure content we produce is on brand. Be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, tone of voice, writing, and style.
  • Manage relationships with external partners for press/co-marketing initiatives. This could include working with Canary client partners to develop co-marketing materials/events, as well as building and managing relationships with trade press for placement
  • Track and measure content performance

Our ideal candidate

  • At least 3-5 years total experience in marketing – candidates with B2B marketing experience and/or tech startup experience, ideally building a new category, will be prioritized
  • This will be our first dedicated marketing hire, so we’re looking for someone who is a hands-on content creator, with enough leadership experience to know how to build out a content strategy and a team
  • Passionate about financial health solutions, familiarity with the challenges facing underserved and financially stressed populations, and experience communicating with or serving an underserved group ideal
  • Strong writer and editor who is able to tell a compelling story and deliver content that drives engagement, particularly on LinkedIn
  • Clear, concise and creative communicator with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent project manager with experience managing an editorial or marketing content calendar
  • Comfortable using data to inform decisions and tell stories
  • Basic design experience (e.g. Canva, Photoshop) required; video experience a plus
  • Familiarity with fundamentals of paid and unpaid marketing channels + tactics
  • PR and/or journalism experience is a plus

Role structure

  • This is currently a part-time, contract role – up to 20 hours/week – with the potential to expand into a full-time role as Canary grows.
  • Given the training investment and the significance of the role on our team, candidates should be able to commit to the role for at least 6-12 months.
  • Senior Content Marketing Manager will be able to set their own weekly schedule in collaboration with their manager.
  • This is a U.S.-based remote role with the opportunity to engage in-person (post-COVID) if located in New York City, Chicago, or Seattle.
