Full-Time Maximo Developer

Job Description

USS-UPI, LLC a United States Steel Company, (formerly USS-POSCO Industries) a world-class ISO certified steeling finishing facility in Pittsburg, CA.  UPI produces cold-rolled sheets, galvanized sheets, tin plate and tin-free steel from hot-rolled coils supplied by other U. S. Steel facilities. The facility services sheet and tin mill products customers, principally in the western United States. UPI’s annual production capability is approximately 1.5 million tons.

We are seeking a Maximo Developer who has experience recommending solutions to new requirements and changes to existing Maximo functionality, in the context of existing systems and business processes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Incorporate best practices to analyze, design and configure Maximo.
  • Ensure that the application meets the needs of Maximo users.
  • Analyze and support Maximo promotion of configuration changes.
  • Assist in adding, modifying and granting access to Maximo system and Monitor application activities.
  • Support all Maximo environments, including testing, development and production.
  • Perform Maximo application server configuration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of hands on experience in a technical positions with the implementation and utilization of fully integrated Maximo Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Must be able to convert functional requirements into technical specifications, and configure, tailor, and or customize solutions including building interfaces
  • Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a project team environment
  • Five (5) years coding/development experience with
    • Interface Writing, Java/J2EE, XML
    • Experience with extensions to Maximo business objects, class files, deployed web services, customizations, and configurations.

Required Skills:

  • Experience recommending solutions to new requirements and changes to existing Maximo functionality, in the context of existing systems and business processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system defects and answer user questions.
  • Experience with Maximo configuration tools.
  • Solid documentation skills to help document test procedures and expedite defect resolution.
  • Experience with Security: Security Groups and Users.
  • Experience with SQL, writing advance queries, creating views, triggers, stored procedures, and indices.
  • Coding Java for Maximo 7.6 and beyond preferred.
  • Experience with WebSphere preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This position is conducted in both an office environment and in a manufacturing environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and loud noise.

Physical Demands

  • This position involves a combination of sedentary and light work.
  • Talking and repetitive wrist motions from typing are regularly required.
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, sitting, balancing, crawling, and crouching are occasionally required.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • 24-hour on-call assignment may lead to interruption in regular sleep pattern if called during the night.
