This Graphic Designer II – Development Communications will be responsible for:

  • Taking ownership of assigned work from design through deployment managing to client expectations, work standards and agreed timeframes. Participating in meetings with clients to gain first-hand knowledge of project scope, goals, etc
  • Under limited supervision, designing, building and deploying the assets across most, if not all, of the mediums (i.e., print, digital, animation and video) to meet client specifications
  • Applying creative judgment with regard to composition, media selection, presentation impact, style definitions, etc
  • Evaluating work for adherence to the organization’s brand
  • Presenting “near final design” or product to manager or more senior level designer before presentation to the client. Finalizing design based on feedback
  • Participating in presenting (“pitching”) final designs to the internal client, explaining how the design best satisfies the client’s goal for the project. May lead the presentation to the client for smaller projects
  • Providing internal team with requisite final design material for execution/production in keeping with overall project timeframes
  • Maintaining collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues within area and across the department in order to effectively contribute to the group’s achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s in graphic design or in a closely related field. The academic requirements can be substituted on a year for year basis for directly related work in a design studio setting
  • Minimum of 3 years’ total relevant experience, at least 2 of which must involve working with clients and designing and building graphic assets to satisfy clients’ needs
  • Strong knowledge of design principles, concepts and its application for print and digital mediums. Exposure to and/or demonstrated interest in video and animation
  • The ability to design and build graphic elements to satisfy client requirements
  • Knowledge of existing/emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Proficient with relevant design software, specifically: Adobe software, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop – After Effects a plus. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • The ability to elicit and understand the goals of the client, consult with and influence internal clients, and manage projects from design through to sign-off
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; the ability to convey the logic and impact of design choices to the client
  • An open-mind to new ideas, different perspectives and constructive critiques
