What We Need

We find ourselves in a moment where demand for Raben’s approach to Diversity, Equity,  Inclusion & Justice (Equity) – one that eschews cookie-cutter solutions and is firmly grounded in deep multi-sector expertise and high emotional intelligence – is growing.  We seek a Senior Associate to join our Beyond Diversity Strategies practice area and help support clients through the transformational work that effective equity theory and practice can be.

Our successful candidate will bring 3-5 years of experience successfully managing equity initiatives; education or expertise in equity theory, tools and best practice; strong project management abilities; developing facilitation skills; and a concierge-like approach to client services.

Our preference would be for our Sr Associate to be based in either our New York, DC, or LA offices, although for particularly strong candidates we are open to exploring remote working arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and serve as a project manager on client services teams, focused on delivering equity services to clients in the corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic, and government sectors.
  • Provide tactics and strategy, work plan development, and other related services in support of successful engagements.
  • Provide direct tactical service, which often takes the form of small or large group facilitation, client counsel, and relationship management
  • In collaboration with team members, develop, refine and/or execute various deliverables, including environmental scans, cultural assessments, trainings, program/work plans, summative reports, recommendations memos, presentation decks, etc.
  • Contribute to the equity practice area substantively and tactically – thought partnership, knowledge-sharing, problem-solving, work planning, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 3-5 years experience with managing complex projects which may include,  diversity, equity and inclusion issues
  • Strong proficiency with internet research, Google Docs and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; professional experience with social media applications and web content management systems a plus.
  • A collaborative and relationship-building mindset. Must be able to proactively identify potential challenges/conflicts and communicate with team members with a problem-solving approach.
  • Strong writing, layout and editing skills; experience with desktop publishing tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are a non-negotiable requirement. Candidates must have the demonstrable ability to quickly produce clear, compelling written collateral and communicate professionally and diplomatically with a wide range of staff, clients, partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop customized content for and facilitate equity activations (trainings, keynotes, group planning sessions, focus groups, etc.) in a variety of contexts
  • Prior data collection and analysis experience
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills (drafting memos and presentations)
